There are so, so many things to do in Chicago, but we are going to keep this section limited to things to do in Hyde Park (the neighborhood where all wedding events will be, and where our recommended hotels will be). Feel free to venture outside of Hyde Park, but if we didn't put some limitations this section would be too long!
Extremely cool museum. Highlights include the weather exhibit, the replica coal mine, and the only captured German U-boat anywhere in the United States.
Museum with artifacts from Mesopotamia, Assyria, and other Near Eastern civilizations from thousands of years ago. In the same building where Sandy's mom went to graduate school!
Gorgeous park that is also a peninsula jetting into Lake Michigan. The Point has the best view of the skyline from anywhere in the city. Bring your swimsuit and go for a dip!
Great cash-only breakfast spot. Beloved by Barack Obama and Anthony Bourdain alike!
Great restaurant and deli. Sandy's favorite is the salmon benedict, while Brandon never turns down their Italian sub with housemade giardiniera.
NOT a fusion Indian / soul food place, just a restaurant with both Indian and soul food. You can get the best tandoori chicken in the city here with a side of collard greens, but it never tries to fuse the two.
Classic deep-dish pizza.
Takeaway sandwich spot with all the Chicago classics like the Chicago-style hot dog and the Italian Beef
