We met the day before Christmas, right in the middle of COVID, at a little Italian restaurant that instantly became our spot. From the moment we started talking, everything felt easy—fun, natural, and unexpectedly comfortable for two people meeting during a pandemic. We clicked quickly… and yes, Cesar did not waste a second and went for the first kiss on date one. After dinner, we decided on a spontaneous trip to Rochester to see the Christmas lights. Even though Sara had lived in Michigan for years, it was her very first time seeing them— it felt that fate had saved that moment just for us. The only problem? It was freezing. Michigan winter, painfully cold! We tried calling an Uber back to our cars, but no drivers to be found. So, Sara thought about the perfect plan: to run 3 miles to get to our cars! She instantly took off sprinting like she was in an action movie. When she turned around, Cesar was still at the starting line laughing instead of running with her. Eventually, we ducked into a hotel lobby to warm up—two frozen strangers who turned into instant teammates. We talked, laughed, and thawed out. At some point, Sara even fell asleep for a minute (yes, on the first date). When she woke up, Cesar was watching her with the sweetest smile… while she tried to remember where she was. Before the night ended, we made our first promise: We have to see each other again as soon as Sara gets back from her trip. And from that moment on, everything just felt right. What began as a freezing, chaotic, hilarious night turned into the start of something real and beautiful—our story, the one we have been building together ever since and now with our two beautiful daughters Mia & Leah, we make a perfect family!
