Sara Kathryn Boyd and John Robert Diver met in 2015 at a friend’s birthday party. On that wintery evening, as John was enjoying conversation with friends, Sara arrives with the newest addition to her family. Sara had just driven back from the country with her rescued puppy, Padme, the only survivor of a litter of Great Pyrenees puppies born earlier that week. It was meant to be that two of the most caring and outgoing souls would meet on that day.
Not long after they began talking, John asked Sara on their first date. With her usual grace and possibly some hidden intentions, Sara arrived late - just late enough to allow John to stress eat a bowl of French onion soup while he waited. Their first date at R Bar on Brookside was the perfect occasion with the perfect ending, their first kiss. Their relationship quickly grew closer as their feelings for each other grew stronger almost as if to catch up on lost time.
Sara and John immediately began sharing in the beauty of life together. They find joy in the simple things; they love traveling; they live spending time with friends; they immerse themselves in nature. After moving in together, they quickly decided in spring of 2016 that their home (or backyard) felt too empty - two cats and a dog just wasn’t enough. With Sara’s idea to raise ducks, John took the initiative to build a coop. It wasn’t long after that when they decided to start a beehive, which provided them more to share with each other as well as friends and family. Needless to say, both John and Sara love raising animals, gardening, and everything outdoors when relaxing around their Tulsa home.
It didn’t take long for both to realize that they would be together forever. Over the course of 2016 they took the opportunity to travel to Boston, MA and Durango, CO where John and Sara went to college, respectively, and share with each other their past experiences, meet new friends, and enjoy everything each city has to offer. Sara and John constantly make new memories regardless of where they are or what they are doing; they make a great time out of any situation or circumstances. If they are together, they are as happy as any couple could be.
After many intimate getaways as well as vacations with friends and family, Sara and John decided with a group of friends to make plans for a golfing and fishing trip to Crested Butte, CO. After a couple days of beautiful golf course views and an audacious guided fly fishing trip on the Gunnison River, their last adventure before returning home was hiking to the summit of Mount Crested Butte. It was on that hike that at 12,089ft elevation on the side of a mountain, John asked for Sara’s hand in marriage. Without hesitation and with stressful tears running down her face, Sara said “yes” but also to put her ring away until we hiked down to a safer part of the mountain.
Sara and John have enjoyed the past 9 years together, making countless memories, and can’t wait to spend the rest of their lives together making countless more. Having spent most of their lives around Tulsa, Sara and John plan to have their wedding there as well.
