Our Wedding

Swiping Soulmates 

Sara and Shahin met on March 4, 2019 the same way most millennial couples do — online! (Thanks, J-swipe!) Sara and Shahin fell in love over time based on their open communication, their shared connection of Judaism and their common love of traveling, food/dining and experiencing new things together. Their relationship blossomed and they continued to grow closer as they supported each other through life’s up and downs. Over the last two years, they’ve shared in some great times including visits with friends and family all over the country and vacations in the Dominican Republic and Israel. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit and turned the world upside down, it allowed their relationship to grow and flourish. Despite very different backgrounds and upbringings, fate and the universe have brought them together and true love has sustained them. On August 21, 2020 in front of the beautiful and magnificent Niagara Falls, Shahin popped the question and Sara said yes before he even opened the ring box! Over time, these soulmates or Beshert as they say in Hebrew, have planned a wedding in a pandemic so that they can start their lives together while the world is still so uncertain. November 11, 2021, or 11/11/21 will be an amazing day filled with love, fun and the combination of two cultures that they look forward to sharing with their families and close friends. 11/11 is very close to them as repeating one's are the universe's way of saying you are on the right track and exactly in the place you should be. They hope that you will all be right there with them to celebrate on 11/11 as the universe intended! We cannot wait to share our love with you all!

Airports 

Out of town guests that require a flight, JFK or LaGuardia will be your best bets, as they are only approximately 25-30 minutes from the hotel. MacArthur airport in Islip is also an option, but it will be closer to a 30-45 minute ride to the hotel.

Travel

Roosevelt Field is one of the leading malls in the United States and one of the nicer ones on Long Island and New York in general. It is a short distance (about 10-15 minutes) from the hotel. There are also numerous dining options near by in Garden City.

It might be a little cool in November, but if you want a drive by the beach, Jones Beach is the place to go!

The hotel and our wedding is approximately 30-45 minutes away from New York City. There are trains that run every hour, or if you have a vehicle, just a short ride in.

Things to Do

Lauren and Sara met on the first day of classes freshman year of college. The two truly became sisters when Lauren pledged Sara’s sorority and have grown closer ever since. Their friendship spans 15 years and Lauren’s adorable 3 children call Sara “Auntie Monaco!”

Michelle and Sara are practically sisters at this point.  Meeting on the first day of college orientation, these two were roommates for over 7 years (also with Sara’s brother) and remain super close to this day. Michelle and Sara are both fixtures in the other’s family. 

Michelle “Mish” Blum

Lianne and Sara are not only sorority sisters but soul sisters. The two were notorious travel buddies from Birthright to Greece and trips to Sara’s parents in Florida. Always in for a good talk sesh, the two have been friends for over 10 years and remain close despite living in different states. 

Lianne “Rikki” Sufrin

Sara and Christina have been friends since the first day of 7th grade when Christina started at Spackenkill. Part of the “peaz” group, their friendship spans over 20 years. They are each other’s “we” and look forward to checking out new cities around the country on the annual peaz reunion trips. 

Christina “Tina” Fields 

Courtney is one of Sara’s oldest friends, meeting in 2nd grade. Also part of the peaz group, the two catch up regularly despite living across the country from one another. With a friendship spanning over 25 years, Sara is also a bridesmaid in Courtney’s wedding in September.

Courtney “Court” Willoughby

Jenny and Sara go back to 2nd grade, as well. Despite living in different states, when they are back together, it is as if no time has passed. Knowing each other for 25 years, Jenny is always the one who can hear comments Sara makes under her breath and they can speak to each other with just a look. 

Jennifer “Jenny” Sandke

We couldn’t miss including some very special people on our day, Shahin’s niece and nephews!! We love spending time together each week on Shabbat, on holidays and family barbecues! 

Eli, Isabella and Elkanah

Arya is the beautiful and sweet daughter of Matron of Honor, Lauren. Sara has been in Arya’s life since birth. Arya loves to have girls days with Mom and Auntie Monaco and loves playing with Uncle Shahin.
