What is the dress code?
We ask that our guests attend our ceremony and reception in cocktail attire. For men this would mean a suit, dress shirt, and tie. For women this would mean knee-length (or longer) dresses or elevated pantsuits. The bride asks that women refrain from wearing all shades of white, cream, and ivory. Additionally, we are so excited to have our ceremony in the historic Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Basilica, in Phoenix. This is the oldest Catholic Parish in Phoenix! As such, this is a holy and reverent place and we kindly ask that ladies dress accordingly. If you plan on wearing a strapless, spaghetti strap, or deep neckline, please bring a shawl or wrap for the ceremony inside the church. (And feel free to remove it for the reception!) The bridal party will be wearing burgundy.
What will parking be like?
Our parish will have free parking for all of our wedding attendants in an underground, private parking garage. Feel free to leave your car parked there while you attend the ceremony and the reception. The garage will be closed and locked at 11:00 PM. You may either pick your car up before then or leave it parked overnight and pick it up in the morning!
How far away is the reception venue from the church?
It is on the same street! It was important to us that we make this day easier and more enjoyable for ourselves and you. We chose a reception venue that is about 400 yards East of the church so you won't need to drive to a new location.
What if I'm running late to the ceremony?
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM. Guests are encouraged to arrive in advance of that. Shortly before the ceremony begins the doors into the church will be closed and locked to prevent anybody from entering during the procession. At the conclusion of the procession the doors will be unlocked to allow in any late-comers.
What if I RSVP 'yes' but now I can't make it?
We understand that unexpected things come up in everybody's lives. We kindly ask that if you already submitted your RSVP as a 'yes' but can no longer attend, simply send a text to either the bride or groom so we can update our vendors!
I have never attended a Catholic wedding or mass before and I'm not sure what to do.
Many of our guests are not Catholic and have never attended mass before. We will have wedding programs available for all of our guests that will detail the order of the mass. This will include prompts on when to sit, stand, or kneel and instructions for Holy Communion. If you have any specific questions beforehand about best practices, please reach out to us directly and we will be happy to help!
Additionally, we want to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with you! We therefore encourage all baptized Catholic guests to ensure they are in good-standing and properly disposed to receive communion in advance of the wedding.
How long will the ceremony be?
We are having a full wedding mass. The ceremony will start at 2:00 PM and end at approximately 3:15 PM.
Where should I sit?
At the ceremony we encourage our guests to sit closer to the front and more towards the center aisle of the church. The church can seat a large number of people and we definitely won't be filling it up. We will have ushers to help direct you. There are no dedicated sides of the aisle for the bride or groom's guests. You are OUR guests!
There will be a seating chart at the reception to direct you to your table. We are making every effort to make sure our guests are seated with people they know for dinner.
What is the reception venue like?
The Lath Pavilion at Heritage Square is an outdoor venue. However, the entire pavilion is covered. There are private restrooms on site for our guests as well.
Will there be dinner?
Yes! We will have snacks during cocktail hour and we will be having a buffet dinner service with both meat and vegetarian entree options.
Will there be alcohol served?
Yes. There will be an open bar with beer, seltzer, red wine, white wine, tequila, vodka, and bourbon.
Can I bring a guest?
If we were able to allot a plus one to you, it will be noted on your invitation. Otherwise we unfortunately cannot accommodate additional guests.
Can I bring my kids?
If you have older children still under the age of 18 who were invited, they will be noted on your invitation. Due to the open bar service we have decided to refrain from inviting younger children outside the wedding party.
Can I take pictures?
During the ceremony we ask that you refrain from taking pictures or video. (We have the photography covered!) After the ceremony recessional feel free to take pictures inside the church, it's beautiful!
Where should we stay?
We understand we have many out of town guests and we are so thankful you have decided to make this trip for us! We have room blocks at the following hotels that are conveniently located in Downtown Phoenix near both venues:
The Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Phoenix and
The Renaissance Phoenix Downtown.
There are links on the Travel tab of our wedding website to take you to the reservation page for our room blocks.
