Our Story

Phishing For Love

In 2014 on a weekend in early July, two acquaintances were vacationing with friends on the southern end of Lake George. The friends had rented a cabin in the tourist Village of Lake George, NY and had planned on celebrating the birth of our great country the way any great American should, by going to a Phish concert and enjoying the beautiful lake backdrop for the 4th of July weekend!

During the day they would spend time with friends on the beach, relaxing and taking turns on the kayaks while enjoying the pristine lake life. The sun was hot and the water provided a welcoming relief. Eventually the group all began to grow weary from their daunting day of fun in the sun. They packed up and began their short one mile walk home through the quaint village center. The homey feel put them quite at ease and carefree as they discussed amongst themselves what songs they had hoped to hear that evening and when.

Back at their home for the weekend, they began to fire up the grills and brought out their lawn games. It was here, Jack could be noticed enjoying the sight of Sara as she relaxed in the sun and caught up with old friends. Every once in a while, he would watch her as she would pick up the nearest hula hoop and dance to the music before sitting back down and enjoying being outdoors. Seeing her looking so incredibly happy, so incredibly pure in that moment made him smile and created a lasting image of her Jack will always cherish and an image he will hold on to forever.

After they were all fed, clothes were changed and naps were had; the group began making their way down to Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC). At SPAC, both Sara and Jack noticed their energy had made some sort of connection while they danced to some of their favorite songs. As the night progressed they slowly closed the gap between each other until they began to finally dance together. Neither Sara nor Jack had realized at that moment that they had met their other half, their best friend, the one whom they will spend forever with.

The weekend ended just as magically as it had began. Both Sara and Jack were eager to speak with their friends, ask what they thought about the other, what their story was and so on. In the mean time Sara had saw fit to test Jack's resolve and forced him to prove he was worthy of her phone number with quite a few trials. Holding on to that image Jack had taken of Sara, that day in the sun, 4th of July weekend; Jack knew he was never going to give her up, he was never going to let her down. His determination to get to know more about Sara was finally rewarded when she bestowed upon him a gift of hope. Jack accepted her gift and called her immediately asking her out on a date. A proper date, one with just the two of them with no distractions, no loud concert and no equally loud friends.

After their first date, their love was planted as a seed. A seed of hope, one of which could only blossom into true love if the two were to work together to gain an understanding of one another and earn the trust of a best friend. Believe me, their story from here forward is just as amazing and filled with the spirit of true love. So much so, their seed of hope was able to sprout and began to grow into a vision of the future they both shared. In a quiet little peaceful mountain town, in Breckenridge CO, Jack got down on one knee and stumbled across some words to Sara. By the grace of God, Sara was able to understand him as asking for her hand in marriage. Jack was so nervous that his hand became stuck in his jacket pocket as he fished out the ring . He even held the wrong hand the whole time he was trying to ask her to marry him. Quick thinking and clever as ever, Jack switched to the correct hand at the last moment and was received by a squeak of a "yes" from his now fiancé. They both glowed so bright with joy and love as they walked to dinner at the Briar Rose steakhouse. Surrounded by friends they shared their joy with everyone and began to move forward with the next chapter of their life.

They now plan a special day. One day that is meant to be joyous, magical, emotional, memorable, and shared amongst those of you whom are nearest to their hearts. On that special day, two separate whole people will join together as one and bind themselves to one another with love, respect, honor, trust and hope. Through the good times and the bad times. Through the continued love and support of those whom are there to witness such a union (in spirit as well as in person) they will continue to grow and strengthen that bond. Jack will look forever into Sara's eyes and beg her, "Come waste your time with me."
