Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Sara and Jeff met at UW-Madison in the fall of 2014 when Sara was a freshman and Jeff was a junior. While they knew each other, they didn't become good friends until the spring semester of 2017 when Jeff asked Sara to his fraternity's formal.

Their relationship continued to grow, even prompting Jeff to purchase a plane ticket to London to go visit Sara during her study abroad semester in the fall of 2017. Together, with their friend Brooke, they bonded over fish and chips, pubs, and all things royal. When Sara returned from her semester abroad, her and Jeff were inseparable and a soon-to-be romance started to blossom.

The pair and their friends frequented Madison's staple on State Street: Hawk's Bar & Grill. It was a cold February night at Hawk's in 2018 when Jeff made the first move. While Jeff and Sara didn't immediately define their relationship, they would spend time together going to the movies, grabbing dinner at Los Gemelos Restaurant, traveling to Devil's Lake State Park, and drinking many pitchers at the Memorial Union Terrace. It wasn't until the summer of 2018 when, after a night out in Madison and over a plate of pizza rolls, things became official.

The couple dated long distance for roughly two years, going between Madison and Milwaukee each weekend. In September of 2018 they took their first vacation to Door County together as a couple. Since then, Door County has become a special place for both Jeff and Sara.

Flash forward three years later to September 10th, 2021, when Jeff proposed to Sara in Sister Bay on the dock by the water! To Sara's surprise, Jeff had invited their friends and family. They spent the weekend celebrating at a fish boil, the wineries, Al Johnson's, and Husby's. It was certainly a monumental occasion to remember!

A lot has changed since Sara and Jeff started dating way back in 2018. For starters, they moved in together in 2020 and have since lived in various locations within Wisconsin. They also both made bold decisions to pursue healthcare-related Master's degrees. On top of that, they welcomed not only one, but two rambunctious Pembroke Welsh Corgis (Ollie & Theo) to their little family.

They're looking forward to celebrating their wedding on October 7th, 2023 with family and friends!
