Our Wedding

Matt and I both left the east coast looking for something without really knowing what that something was. As it turns out, it was each other. Living in Washington D.C. had been a wonderful experience, but city life and traffic were getting the best of Matt so he went searching for open spaces, tranquility, and fresh air; all in large supply in Alaska. Matt packed up his beloved Beamer and booked a one-way ticket to the far North! I had been living in Maryland as an EMT and was searching for fulfillment and a rewarding experience where I could stretch out her wings and challenge myself. I packed up my Forester and set out on a cross-continent journey to work with children at Denali National Park! While both working on Eielson AFB, Matt and I struck up a friendship at the bowling alley and slowly began to foster a relationship built on adventure, fun, and a healthy respect for moose. Our first date was spent enjoying one of Matt's favorite things: coffee. We met at a small, local cafe in Fairbanks, Alaska and enjoyed a chilly afternoon getting to know each other. We decided to give this thing a shot and we haven't looked back! When the topic of dating in Alaska comes up, there is always someone who will repeat the well-known saying "The odds are good but the goods are odd" and that is definitely true but in the best way. But odd means different. Odd mean unique. Odd means special and Matt and I have had many fun stories and experiences that you can read about further in this section or ask us about at our wedding!

Sierra and I met while studying abroad on Semester at Sea in 2014. Although she lives in California, we have remained close. I remember my first trip to California was a girls camping trip with Sierra, her sisters, and Amanda who is also in the bridal party. Sierra and I also participated int eh Disney College Program together in 2015 and had an amazing time. I am honored that she will be standing next to me on my wedding day!

Shortly after moving to Alaska, Merlyn and I met while working at Eielson AFB. We became friends over a love of video games, Magic the Gathering, and Japanese culture. He has come to my rescue several times for home improvement debacles and Halloween- costume related emergencies. I am honored to have him stand beside me on my wedding day.

Ellie and I met during graduate school at Frostburg State University in 2018 and bonded over the worst professor we have ever encountered. I was MOH for Ellie's wedding and she and her husband, Lee, are expecting their first child! Ellie and I have had many adventures together, including a spontaneous winter trip to Maine, and I can't wait to make more memories across the pond.

Keeli has had the pleasant misfortune to have known me since junior high school, and we have been close friends ever since. From high school movie nights to concerts to coffee shops and antiquing to being there for her wedding,  Keeli and I have been making memories together that we will hold close for a lifetime. I am honored that Keeli will be joining the boys by my side as my groomswoman.

Amanda and I met while studying abroad on Semester at Sea in 2014. Then we participated in the Disney College Program together and had a magical time! Over the years, we have taken turns visiting each other in Maryland and Ohio. She even made the trek all the way up to Alaska! We have remained good friends and I'm lucky to have her with me in Scotland!

When I was 12, Jacob graced us with his presence and our family was complete. Jacob and I have been on many adventures together from coffee runs down the street to trips to Alaska. Graduating this past spring from college with a degree in psychology, his next adventure in England is just beginning!

Paige and I met during our time volunteering as EMTs at George's Creek Ambulance Service. We became close through a difficult time in my life and have kept in touch over the years as we both move all over the country, me for work and Paige for her husband Peyton's military service. We even went to our first NHL game together; Go Capitals! As a fellow Harry Potter enthusiast, I can't wait for her to join me in Scotland!

John and I met while working at Eielson AFB and my life has not been quiet since. Originally from all over, John will be joining us from Japan where he is an expert in all things mischief. I aspire to have even a fraction of his fashion sense but prefer to fly comfortably as opposed to a three piece suit.

Kristen and I met during our time volunteering as EMTs at George's Creek Ambulance Service and bonded quickly through difficult life experiences. We frequently held Chinese food and Harry Potter marathons before I headed north and Kristen made the journey up to see me! I cannot wait to have her with me on my wedding day!

Kyle is the life of the party and always manages to bring out the fun in everyone! I remember a few nights, though there are plenty that I do not, when Kyle and I would tour Emerald Isle by bike sampling all the nightlife (and drinks) that the island had to offer. Just ask the volcano.

I became a brother for the first time when Nathan was born and I realized that I had responsibilities beyond myself as I watched him grow up. Our bond as brothers is as strong as his love for Chick - Fil- A, and that is significant. I have stood by while he grew into an accomplished soldier, and I am proud to have him as one of my groomsmen. Unfortunately, Nathan is unable to attend the wedding due to the quickly approaching birth of his daughter and will be staying home stateside to welcome her by his wife's side.

BusPublic buses are regular and easy to use and travel all around the city—the exact change is required for your journey.
