Our Wedding

How we became a couple

We met on an app called Hinge, but apparently Dave also had me saved on an app called Bumble (covering all bases). After talking for a bit online, we decided to meet up for drinks in downtown Northville. I’m not sure who initiated this, but I think it was him. I decided we should meet at a restaurant called The Garage because I thought it had a cute ambiance. I ended up walking in the front door and he walked in the back door and we met inside. I immediately thought “ok, this guy is tall and cute”, but also “I’m not waiting around for a table, I need a drink!” I suggested walking across the street to Bricks (RIP) so we didn’t have to awkwardly wait around. We ended up sitting at the bar next to each other. He was easy to talk to (anyone who knows him knows he could talk to a wall for hours) and he had great teeth, so all and all it was a good combo! On my drive home, I saw him in his car and waved as I passed. When I got home I snapchatted (how my friends and I communicate these days) my friends and spoke giddily about the date. My friend Renee said, “it sounded like I really liked this guy”, but I said, “no I’m sure it’s just the wine talking.” I did not love our second date because the booth we sat in was so awkward and I felt like maybe now he talked too much for my liking. Alas, I knew there was something special in Dave, so we went on a few more dates. On one of those dates, he had brought me a present for my dog’s birthday without ever meeting her! I knew this was the start of a great relationship.

Proposal

A little over 2 years after we met Dave finally proposed on Halloween. He carved “Will you marry me?” into a pumpkin and placed the ring inside. I was surprised, even though I was thinking everything was going to be a proposal at that point. I was watching Hocus Pocus when he walked in with “something he forgot in the car”. I was very confused why he got another pumpkin, but was very excited once I realized what was going on. After we told family members we headed over to my friend’s Halloween party dressed like Alexis and David from Schitt’s Creek to show off my new ring and our excitement!

Travel

Downtown Birmingham, Royal Oak, Ferndale, or Detroit have great restaurants and bars to explore! We live in Royal Oak and some of our favorites are Ale Mary's, Pearl's Deep Dive, Pinky's, and The Morrie. If you want to join us after our rehearsal dinner at Uptown in Commerce, you are more than welcome to! Around 9:00PM (can't guarantee how long I'll be there!) During the day be sure to eat at Coney Island (Leo's is my fav), Olga's, or Buddy's Pizza. You will also be minutes away from many lakes and parks! Maybe rent a boat?

Bridal Party

I met Amanda my Freshman year at MSU. We lived in the same dorm and were both teaching majors. Currently, Amanda lives close by and is always there for me when needed.

Yes, I have 2 maid's of honor. Annie has been my best friend since we were 9 years old. Currently, Annie lives in Charlotte, North Carolina so I haven't seen her for a few years, but distance only makes the heart grow fonder.

I met Renee my freshman year at MSU and we shared a lot of the same classes. Renee has always been such a caring, supportive, and loving friend.

You will see it is a pattern that most of my wedding party I met my freshman year at MSU, and Lindsay continues that pattern. Lindsay currently lives near by in Metro-Detroit and is a daily part of my life.

Cassie has been my friend since we were 11 years-old. Cassie currently lives in Nashville, but is lucky enough to still have family in Farmington Hills, so I get to see her at least once a year! I can always count on Cassie to make me laugh.

I met Michelle at MSU, but not my freshman year. Michelle was one of my roommates our 5th year at MSU and we did our internships alongside one another and graduated together as teachers. Michelle is married to her college bf and just moved to northern California.

Continuing the pattern is Karyn, who lived on my floor my freshman year at MSU. Karyn also lives nearby and we speak almost every day.

I met Heather at MSU and I've been lucky enough to visit her in all the different locales she has lived in. Currently, Heather lives in Tampa and she let's me visit the Sunshine State every year (minus covid).

Sara was my roommate for 4 years and 3 apartments in Chicago. I met Sara almost immediately once moving to Chicago and we ended up doing everything together. She probably knows where all the "bodies are buried" from my 20s and early 30s. Sara is getting married soon, hence the (Larson).
