Our Story
How we met
Jacob and Sara met through mutual friends at a New Year's Eve party. The two rang in the new year of 2008 together. Little did they know that they would meet again two years later.
Sara was a junior at Salisbury University when Jacob transferred to Salisbury. In December of 2010 Jacob messaged Sara on Facebook to catch up and have some sushi. Let's be clear, this was not a date; as Jacob did not offer to pay, and Sara was not trying to impress anyone as she ate 3 rolls of sushi!
After two formals, more sushi and other hang outs throughout the semester, Sara and Jacob officially became a couple on June 25,2011. (Yes, 6 months after their first sushi non-date.)
Island Time
As you can guess, since 2011 there have many more sushi eating days. This time, they are considered "dates". Not only do Sara and Jacob share a love for sushi, they also share a love of traveling. Not just any type of traveling; but, island traveling. Their ideal vacations are relaxing in the sun with drinks in hand and toes in the sand. In 2013 Jacob and Sara started traveling together out of the US. They ventured to Aruba in 2013 with Sara's family. In 2014, they made their way to Mexico to celebrate a family wedding and to enjoy a week in the sun. In 2015 they traveled to Punta Cana for a week of drinks and sun! Also in 2015 Sara and Jacob purchased their first house together! Talk about a major step! In 2016, Sara and Jacob adopted their dog, Hanzel (Hanz) and went to Myrtle Beach with Jacob's family. In 2017, Sara and Jacob traveled to Jamaica with some friends. This was their last trip with the titles of "boyfriend" and "girlfriend"
The Engagement
The proposal
Sara and Jacob traveled to Jamaica on Saturday, June 24th. Their friends were joining them on Monday. They had a wonderful weekend in the sun by the pool trying all the different Jamaican drinks. On Sunday they celebrated their 6 year anniversary! Finally. Monday came and they showed their friends around the resort. Although their friends had just arrived, they were having their dinner alone and meeting back up with their friends later for drinks at the casino. Where did Jacob and Sara go for dinner? You guessed it! Sushi! When dinner was done, they decided to walk off the amazing food on the beach. Jacob suggested going on the cliff of rocks to look at the gorgeous view (this should have been a hint to Sara, it was DARK...therefore no view) Sara was wearing wedges so she had taken them off to walk in the sand, so the entire walk up to the cliff, Sara was complaining about the sharp rocks digging into her feet. FINALLY they made it to the cliff and Jacob insisted they sit on a (extremely sharp) rock to look at the water and the beach. As Sara sat gently on the rock, Jacob was already down on one knee when she turned around. The rest is a blurr! June 26,2017 became the day that they can no longer refer to each other as "boyfriend" and "girlfriend". Lucky for the couple, they still had the rest of the vacation to celebrate.
