Caleb and Sara were formally introduced to each other through mutual friends. The four of them spent many summer days swimming at Modena Falls, going to the movies, and canoeing down the Zumbro River. One of Sara's most memorable traits of the time they spent together was her consistency for asking for a piece of gum from Caleb. Gum, a luxury at the time. One night of watching movies together, Caleb offered Sara a piece of gum. Although very appreciative, Sara was starting to think her breath was bad. She willingly accepted the piece of gum, but as she opened the wrapper, she realized this was no ordinary piece of gum. Inside of the wrapper was a bright orange paper asking Sara if she would be his girlfriend.

Caleb and Sara traveled together, got Leo the Dog, spent time on the farm, watched the Vikings loose, watched the Packers win, went to our first ever concert, spent weekends on the lake and out in the woods- whatever they were doing together, the two were always having fun. Caleb and Sara started full time careers. Caleb working as a maintenance tech. and Sara as a teacher.

After the a summer of hiking the Buena Vista overlook, one special Monday hike Caleb surprised Sara with a memory that would last a lifetime. Once reaching the top of the overlook, Caleb and Sara sat and watched the sunset. Before leaving the hike back down the hill, Caleb and Sara went to the edge of the overlook to get one last look at the river. As Sara was looking out at the landscape, Caleb pulled out a ring. Sara turned around and Caleb opened the box upside down and the ring dropped onto the rocks below them. Luckily, only covered in pebbles and dirt, Caleb picked up the ring and asked Sara to marry him. We think she said yes.
