In August 2011, Sara and Josh started at Newman University, and on the weekend of orientation they had their very first T&T class, which we had together, which meant they would also be in the same learning community. So Sara and Josh had three classes together their first semester, and Sara thought Josh was weird, and Josh thought Sara was . Sara and Josh got to know each other over there freshman year at Newman and a friendship began.

Over the summer over they had distance between them, they exchanged emails occasionally. And before the school year started Sara returned to Wichita for a retreat and went to Jam for the Lamb at Saint Francis of Assisi, which happened to be Josh's parish. When Sara got there Josh was the first one to come and say hi. And even when more friends got their Josh still found some way to stay close to Sara even when he was serving during the Adoration service. And after Adoration was over Josh and Sara stay late talking in the parking lot of the church until midnight, which during this time they exchanged phone numbers. They haven't stopped texting since.

Over the first month of school Sara and Josh got to know each other even more through spending hours at the coffee house on campus and texing. Towards the end of September Josh really wanted to ask Sara out but was really nervous, afraid that she would not think of him more as a friend. Josh asked Sara to a play that he need to go to for a class and Sara not knowing it was a date, still didn't know how Josh felt about her. So a week later when Sara's parents came to Wichita, Josh asked if he could come along. Sara didn't know what to say since they were just friends as far as she knew, so he joined them for mass and dinner. And later that night after dinner, Josh finally made sure Sara knew that he was interesting in dating her on September 30, 2012.

Two years later on September 30, 2014 in Saint Francis parking lot (where it all started) Josh proposed to Sara and she said "Yes"
