How We Met

Every love story has a beginning, and ours started with a chance encounter that would change our lives forever. It all began when Zach met Sara’s brother Sterling through a local Social Sports softball league. As chance would have it, the following flag football season, Sterling needed another male and female to fill a spot on the team. He asked if Zach and Sara would want to join, which is where they first ended up meeting. First impressions are everything, and Sara sure did know how to introduce herself with a bang…through a knee injury that would go down in history as one of the most memorable (or most dramatic) events in history. While Zach didn’t know it at the time, this one moment on the field started a friendship that eventually grew into much more. The flag football season ended (along with Sara’s one-year stint as a Wide Receiver for the Benchwarmers), but the friendship ended up staying.

A few years later, Zach reached out to Sara for wedding gift ideas for Sterling’s big day. That simple conversation eventually opened up the door for Zach and Sara to rekindle their friendship. Little conversations turned into deep, meaningful conversations. Those feelings of friendship turned into much more. A few months later, Zach eventually worked up the courage to ask Sara on a date and the rest is history.

Our Adventures

Our relationship has been filled with thrilling adventures and shared passions. Whether we’re golfing, riding motorcycles, or carving up the slopes on our snowboards, we’ve embraced every moment together. We love exploring new areas and seeking out the best hidden gems for food and drinks which often leads us to some of the most amazing hole-in-the-wall places. Our journey has taken us from hiking the breathtaking trails of the Grand Canyon to conquering the top lifts in Breckenridge, and even having a moped mishap in the Bahamas that still makes us laugh every time we think about it. Through every high and low, we’ve supported each other and created memories that will last a lifetime.

The Proposal

After a month of meticulous planning, a few unexpected twists, and invaluable support from Sara’s family (especially her father, Tommy), Zach chose December 22nd to make the momentous decision to ask Sara to be his forever. Nestled in the cozy charm of a private Airbnb in Purcellville, VA, under a clear night sky and a bunch of twinkling fairy lights, Zach got down on one knee and popped the question. Sara’s family and Zach’s sister were waiting inside to celebrate the new couple! It was a beautiful and intimate moment that took Sara by surprise—of course, she said “yes!”

Looking Forward

As we stand on the brink of this new chapter in our lives, we are brimming with excitement for what the future holds. Our wedding day will be a celebration of our love and commitment, surrounded by our dearest family and friends. We can’t wait to embark on this journey together and make even more memories as husband and wife.
