We first met at a bar—because honestly, where else do all great love stories begin?Sarah had just finished a shift, and Nick was out for the night. We ended up in the same place, started talking, and something just clicked. The conversation flowed, there was a lot of laughing, and by the end of it, Nick had Sarah’s number. But as it turns out, the timing wasn’t quite right. Life was doing its thing, and we didn’t end up staying in touch. Still, something about that night stuck with both of us.A few months later, a mutual friend decided to play matchmaker and set us up on a blind date. Neither of us knew who we were meeting—just a time and place: Kirby’s Grill &amp; Bar. No names. No photos. Just vague encouragement and a “trust me.” Nick showed up, sat at the bar, and the bartender came over to help him pick out a beer. She offered a recommendation, he looked up… and there she was. Sarah. From that night. We both had that moment of recognition—the “wait… you’re the blind date?” And just like that, the whole thing flipped from awkward mystery to something that felt instantly familiar and exciting.So yeah, our “blind date” wasn’t exactly blind. More like a second chance that arrived exactly when it was supposed to. And now—just 11 short years later—we're finally telling this story in anticipation of our wedding. We’ve already been through the honeymoon phase… and then some. We’ve navigated real life together—moves, jobs, holidays, inside jokes, home renovations, spontaneous “let’s leave the restaurant and go cook this at home” moments, and way too many “Did you walk the dog?” debates. We’ve done the hard stuff and the hilarious stuff, and we’re still choosing each other every day.Some couples rush in.We took the scenic route.And honestly? We wouldn’t change a thing.
