Facebook. Technically. He popped up on her “suggested friends” feed, as did she on his. Maybe it was their mutual love of bourbon, dogs and exercise. Maybe it was fate. For whatever reason, they connected, then spent 2 years politely and platonically messaging here and there about bourbon and healthcare staffing and even dogs while they entertained other suitors and hopeful ladies.But it was meant to be, and they couldn’t be kept apart. On a whim, Sarah casually mentioned she was single one day. Jason suggested meeting in person. You know, as friends (or so he thought).That fateful day in July 2021, they met and talked amongst bourbon-spiked cocktails at the Firestone &amp; Robertson Distillery in Fort Worth. By the end of the night, a brave (and possibly tipsy Sarah) confessed she’d had her eye on Jason for some time and expressed her interest in dating in the near future. Like now. Right. Then.Jason, somewhat taken aback yet not disinterested, politely navigated the compliment, safely deposited Sarah with a quick hug back to her apartment (alone thank you very much), and decided she was worth a call back the next day. And the next.Several ski trips and beach trips and countless dinner dates and dog co-parenting adventures and a merging of households later, Jason decided to take Sarah back to the Firestone &amp; Robertson Distillery for a tour and a few cocktails. She didn’t even suspect that he had, a week earlier, conspired with the manager and tour guide to create a special moment, captured on video, to propose. Sometimes true romance is subtle and magically surprising.
