After 3 wonderful years of dating, Dave wanted to surprise Sarah with a 30th birthday weekend trip to the Outer Banks to see the wild horses of Carola. Little did Sarah know, he had bigger plans than just the horses. He called Billy two weeks prior to their departure and asked him for his blessing, as well as not to tell anyone (especially Lois). Lol, but seriously!

The first morning of their trip was overcast and dreary. But Dave decided he wasn’t going to let the weather stand in his way. He planned to take Sarah on a hummer tour to finally see the wild horses she’d been talking about for so long, followed by a trip to the top of the Carola lighthouse. While they were taking in the views on the lighthouse’s upper deck, Dave pointed out a long dock about a mile-and-a-half out on the bay. He decided right then and there: THAT would be the spot where he would propose.

As they made their way to the end of the dock, the clouds began to part and the sun came out. When Sarah reached the end of the dock, after taking in the view, she turned around to find Dave on one knee, proposing.

Now here they are, almost a year later, getting ready to take the adventure of a lifetime together and to promise their lives to each other in Kauai, Hawaii!
