5 years ago, Jamie was working in Rockford, IL and Sarah was in her Social Work masters program in Davenport, Iowa.

Unsure of where it might lead, both decided to take a chance at online dating. Right on the edge of each other's distance limit, they were just a few miles off never connecting. Although they matched by luck, what happened after was anything but luck. Online talks were fun and easy - from long term career aspirations to favorite TV shows. The first time seeing each other in person on the first date (May 18, 2019) only established that connection. Depending on what you are doing, 1 hour can feel very long or very short - the drives to visit each other kept getting shorter and shorter the longer they knew each other. Even if it was just for a morning or a movie, that distance that was almost too far, couldn't have felt shorter.

Day to day, things don't feel like they change that much, but when you look back, you've realize you come a long way. 5 years to the 1st date, everything about their lives has grown and changed. Across multiple job changes, moves, and a global pandemic, with each change and each obstacle, they grew even closer together. 5 years together, with each year bringing new experiences and growth. From humble beginnings, meeting online, to traveling around the country visiting national parks, going on hot air balloon rides, many concerts, Sarah and Jamie have continued to grow and grow closer together. They challenge and push each other to break out of comfort zones and to live fully learning more about each other and themselves. 5 years may seem like a long time, but that is just the prologue - every year for the rest of their lives they will continue to grow and grow together.
