What events are happening and when?

We’ve got two big celebrations planned, and we’d love for you to join us for both at Cigarral de las Mercedes. On Wednesday, April 8 from 6-9PM, we invite our guests to the Lake House (Casita del Lago) for our Welcome Party! The Wedding takes place on Thursday, April 9. We encourage our guests to explore the city of Toledo during the day, arriving at the Viewpoint / Mirador for the Wedding Ceremony at 5PM. We plan to dance the night away, so bring your boogie shoes!

When do I need to RSVP?

While we would love nothing more than to have all of our favorite people in one place, we understand that an international trip isn’t possible for everyone — and that’s okay! Official invitations will be sent out in November or December 2025, and we kindly ask that you RSVP by February 1, 2026. If you already know you won’t be able to attend, we completely understand — but we’d so appreciate a heads-up sooner rather than later to help with planning. Your love and support mean the world, whether you’re celebrating with us in Spain or from afar.

How do I get to Toledo, Spain?

The easiest route is to fly into Madrid-Barajas International Airport (MAD). From there, you’ve got two great options to get to Toledo... First, take the train! It’s fast, affordable, and drops you into the heart of Toledo in just 30 minutes. Trains leave from Madrid’s Atocha Station and tickets can be booked in advance online. Second, arrange a car directly from the airport — especially convenient if you’re traveling with others and want to split the ride. Our wedding venue, Cigarral de las Mercedes, can arrange a private transfer service if you call in advance.

Where should I stay in Toledo, Spain?

All wedding events will take place at Cigarral de las Mercedes, a resort-style boutique hotel nestled just 10 minutes outside Toledo’s historic city center. Guests are welcome (and encouraged!) to stay onsite for the most convenient and relaxing experience — you’ll be able to walk to and from each event, and turn in whenever you're ready for bed. The hotel has around 40 rooms, available first come, first serve, and they are not held specifically for our event — so we highly recommend booking as early as possible! You’ll find step-by-step booking instructions (and the code you’ll need!) on the Accommodations tab of our website. Should rooms fill up or you prefer to stay elsewhere, no worries — additional Toledo hotel recommendations are provided on the Accommodations page. And if you’re planning to stay beyond the wedding festivities, we suggest moving into the heart of the city to soak up Toledo’s charm before heading off to explore the rest of Spain!

What should I wear to the wedding events?

The vibe is cocktail or garden party chic — think spring suiting, slacks and blazers, midi and cocktail dresses. Most importantly, we want our guests to feel comfortable! We’ll be partially celebrating outdoors, so consider sleeves and bring a jacket or shawl to stay cozy when the sun goes down — April evenings in Spain can get chilly! And for all things Europe: a block heel is your best friend (those cobblestones are no joke). This applies to ladies, gents, and anyone fabulous enough to rock a heel.

Can I bring my children to the wedding event?

We’re planning an adults-only celebration. After chatting with many of our close family and friends, we found most were hoping to enjoy a little grown-up time while traveling through Europe — so we made the call to keep the wedding itself kid-free. That said, we totally understand if this impacts your ability to attend. If it’s a deal-breaker, please reach out — we’re happy to chat and discuss potential options.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes, there is ample parking available at the venue, and it’s free for wedding guests! If anyone feels adventurous enough to navigate the international roads, they’re more than welcome to drive.

Is there a language barrier in Spain, and how can I navigate it?

In larger cities like Madrid, most people speak English, so you won’t have much trouble getting around. However, in smaller towns, the chance of encountering someone who speaks English drops to about 50%, so it’s a good idea to download Google Translate or ChatGPT in advance. Additionally, learning a few basic Spanish phrases, like "hola" (hello), "por favor" (please), "gracias" (thank you), and "para llevar" (to go) can go a long way in making your experience smoother and more enjoyable. Spaniards really appreciate when visitors make an effort to speak the language, even if it’s just a little!

What foods and drinks should I try while in Spain?

Spain is a food lover's paradise, and there are several must-try dishes and drinks. Start with tapas, small plates that offer everything from olives and patatas bravas to calamari and chorizo. For something sweet, enjoy churros dipped in hot chocolate, or try Iberian ham, a world-famous cured delicacy. Don’t miss oxtail stew (rabo de toro), a hearty dish popular in Andalusia, and paella, a flavorful rice dish from Valencia, often made with seafood, meats, or vegetables. Pair these with a glass of sangria, a refreshing wine punch. For cheese lovers, Manchego from La Mancha is a must-try, and croquettes, especially the ham and cheese ones, are a local favorite. Spain is also home to some of the best pastry shops in the world, especially in Barcelona and Madrid, where you can indulge in delights like tarta de Santiago or ensaimada. Spain boasts over 200 Michelin-starred restaurants, showcasing the country’s dedication to culinary excellence. Spanish food culture is all about savoring meals with family and friends, often starting with a large lunch and ending with a late, lighter dinner, making it a truly unique and vibrant dining experience.
