John and I have been together since summer of 2009, when I joined the Kentucky Missions trip through the United Churches of Durham. Little did I know what an important decision that would be. After spending a long, tiring week of building houses in Appalachia, we decided to continue seeing each other, and the rest is practically history! John finished his degree in Audio Engineering at the University of Hartford in 2011, and I was in the midst of my nursing degree at Simmons College.

In the fall of 2013, I decided to study abroad in Spain, what would honestly be the most challenging and longest time we ever spent apart. Luckily, John was fortunate enough to be able to come visit in Spain, and we had a lovely week together in Granada. Fast forward to spring of 2014, and I graduated with a nursing degree from Simmons College, and decided to move back to Connecticut after receiving a job from Yale New Haven Hospital. We moved in together in a cute shoreline apartment and shortly after welcomed Winston, our grey kitty, into our home. John proposed at Barcelona restaurant in New Haven, in front of his sisters and their significant others, making for an unforgettable night full of Spanish cheese and wine!

It's been close to six years now that we've been together, learning more and more about one another daily. There's been new challenges, but we've faced them together. Everyday is a new day, and we are excited to share our love and commitment this upcoming April with our closest friends and family!
