This is my favorite story in all the world, though I have never read it. It’s a story about two souls meeting for the first time, exploring one another, falling in love, and experiencing the highs and lows of a relationship. It’s called Romeo & Juliet and I’ve heard it got some good reviews!
Carter and Sarah’s story, however, starts amidst the hustle and bustle of a particularly crowded top floor at Don Tito’s bar in Clarendon. Fate, on this night and acting through their mutual friend Taylor, had plans for the two of them - plans that would take them far and away on a journey of a lifetime. Farther than any bar they would walk to on that night together.
For Carter, it was love at first sight. Sarah, being the stubborn one, took some time to come around. Their first date found them dining together the following Tuesday at Zeffirelli’s in Herndon. In the following months, Carter and Sarah quickly became inseparable, spending a steadily increasing amount of time with each other, getting to know each other, learning about each other, and forming an ever strengthening bond.
Sarah did come around. On October 11th of that same year, Carter and Sarah made their relationship official. Little did they know, Fate had even bigger plans for them than they realized. Plans that would take them around the country, off to the beautiful sandy shores of Cancun, and farther into each other’s hearts.
Carter and Sarah’s relationship continued to strengthen through the seasons. In early Spring of 2019, they moved in together into a modest townhouse rental…
… along with Sarah’s two fur balls, who Carter grew to love as his own: Jemma and Max.
Their first trip around the sun together ended with a romantic evening cruise on the Potomac where the two enjoyed a delicious dinner followed by dancing and the occasional libation or two.
Carter and Sarah would face their first life crisis, along with the rest of the world, in the Spring of 2020 when It Which Must Not Be Named-19 reared its ugly head. Despite being such a dark year in recent times, they managed to create a little light of their own when, on September 13th, 2020, Carter proposed to Sarah.
She said Yes!
Carter and Sarah had no idea what Fate had in store for them when their souls met for the first time, but there’s one thing they know beyond a shadow of a doubt: Their souls shall never be apart.
