Q + A

Frequently Asked Questions

Transportation

Do I need to rent a car?

No. London Underground, Busses, Overground, and commuter rail are all reliable and affordable modes of transportation and are often quicker than driving. Cabs can be booked through apps such as Uber, Bolt, and Free Now. For trips outside of the city, national rail services connect most of the country or cars can be rented.

What is the best way to navigate in London?

Citymapper is similar to Google Maps but offers more up to date timing and multiple route options. We recommend using it for journey planning, especially journeys using public transport.

How can I pay for public transportation in London?

You can pay by contactless debit/credit card or Oyster card on all Transport for London services (Underground, Busses, Overground) and on most commuter rail journeys. Journeys outside of London will require an additional ticket which can be purchased online on sites like Trainline or at the station. Oyster cards can be purchased in the airport or at many corner shops in London.

How can I order a cab?

Cabs can be booked through apps such as Uber, Bolt and Free Now. Alternatively, you can hail a cab. If you hail a cab you will be able to pay by cash or card. It should be noted that Black cabs are more expensive.

I want to take a day trip outside of London- what is the best way to travel?

For trips outside of the city, national rail services connect most of the country or cars can be rented. Journeys outside of London will require an additional ticket which can be purchased online on sites like Trainline or at mainline train stations.

Logistics

Are the venues accessible?

Yes! All the venues and most public transportation are accessible. Some stations do not have step free access, but there are routes into Kew and Putney that do. Please share any accessibility requirements with Sarah ahead of time and she can help you to plan your journey so that it is convenient and easy for you. Sarah can be reached at 07395295964 or se.cox93@gmail.com.

Will I have access to Kew Gardens?

Yes, all wedding guests have free access to Kew Gardens from the opening time on the day of the wedding. Please come early and enjoy the gardens!

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Please arrive no later than 1.30pm as the ceremony will have a prompt start at 2pm. Please leave adequate time to find the appropriate gate and be seated ahead of the start time. The conservatory is a 15-30 minute walk from some gates- please see the 'Getting to the Venues' section of the website to plan your journey.

Will transportation be provided between the wedding and reception venues?

Yes. Transportation will be provided between Kew Gardens and the London Rowing Club. Please listen for instructions on the day on how to access the shuttle service.

Will the wedding be outside?

All of the wedding venues have indoor and outdoor spaces, but all of the main events will be taking place inside. Please check the weather nearer to the day and make sure you dress appropriately to ensure your comfort throughout day and evening.

What is the dress code?

The dress code is formal.

Are children invited?

A limited number of children will be able to attend the wedding. Please get in contact with Sarah or Huw if you would like to bring your children.

What if I have dietary requirements?

We want to cater to everyone. Please remember to indicate your dietary requirements when filling in your RSVP. If you need to amend them, please contact Sarah or Huw.

RSVP

When is the RSVP deadline?

The RSVP deadline is the 1st of March 2025.

Can I bring a Plus One?

We wish we could invite everyone, but unfortunately, numbers are limited. When you enter your name into the RSVP portion of the website it will indicate who is in your party. If you feel you should have received a plus one but do not see their name listed with yours, please contact Sarah or Huw.

Registry

Do you have a registry?

We have been so blessed over the years and already have everything we need. If you'd like to give us a gift, we have started a collection pot to be used for a down payment on a family home and to fund a honeymoon to Australia- to finish the trip we had to cut short due to COVID. You can also sign our virtual card without making a contribution. Our collection and card can be found here: https://viing.com/v/sarah-and-huws-wedding
