In terms of style, wear whatever you want. Our first priority is that everyone is comfortable. In practical terms, Tennessee weather can be a little unpredictable when it comes to temperature. The ceremony will take place outdoors, (and in the event of rain, there is a covered pavilion that is outdoors) and the reception will be indoors, with access to an outdoor patio with fire pits and heating units. Typically it could be anywhere between 70 and 50 degrees in the afternoon, but we recommend bringing layers.
Can I bring my children to the wedding?
In order to create a romantic and intimate atmosphere, we've chosen to celebrate our wedding in an adults-only setting (meaning 18 years or older). However, many of those who have been invited from out of town have littles and we understand that arranging child care can be challenging. If anyone is interested in coming to Tennessee with their children, please contact Sarah directly and she can arrange off-site child care during the festivities so that your whole family will still be able to travel with you, while you moms and dads can get a night off. Perhaps we can make a long kid-friendly weekend of it!
Where is Ijams Nature Center Located? and Where should I park?
The Ijams Nature Center is located at 2915 Island Home Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37920. For directions to the location, please visit https://www.ijams.org/hours-directions .
Per the website, beginning February 19, 2024, there is a parking fee for visitors of the Center. However, there will be NO FEE for the guests of the Crane-Gilliam Wedding. Closer to the date of the wedding, you will receive a QR code (likely via email) which will secure you a parking voucher. Once you arrive, there will be signs posted at the entrance designating the spots that are reserved for wedding guests.
Is there anything we should know before booking a hotel room/lodging in Knoxville?
You will want to book lodging as soon as possible! There is a UT football game against Alabama happening on the same day as the wedding, and prices will likely go up as availability goes down. (We're not kidding, they are serious about college football here in the Bible Belt!) We recommend starting with a vacation rental site such as AirBnb or Vrbo before looking at hotels.
Will you have a Gift Registry?
In lieu of a formal gift registry, we are setting up a cash fund with the goal of being able to go on the Honeymoon of our dreams. The link to that fund is listed under the "Registry" tab at the top of the website.
