Sarah & Frank

August 2, 2025 • Blue Bell, PA

This all happened because BME majors flock to Sarah like moths to a flame.

We met Junior year, Duquesne University, Brottier Apartment Building, May 8, 2019, 9:30pm. A “get together” was hosted at Sarah’s (and Maddie and Melissa’s -shout out-) apartment, and we first spoke making popcorn in the kitchen. Apparently, Sarah was very obvious about her feelings, but Frank was a bit shy and didn’t make a move. After the summer, we reconnected early the next fall, and that’s when Sarah made the first move. Our first date was not really a date, but it was very funny. We saw It Chapter 2 with friends, and Frank watched Sarah sneak an entire baguette from the Cheesecake Factory into the movie theater.

Even after that, we still kept finding our way back to each other all of Senior Year, officially on February 22, 2020. Unfortunately for us, we didn’t know what was coming. 4 months apart, only facetime and zoom parties keeping us sane. And then another two years of long distance after that. From Pittsburgh, to Lavallette, to Belle Vernon, to Baltimore, to Yardley, to Gaithersburg, and Finally: Hatboro together.

One of Frank’s favorite memories together is his first trip to Lavallette in July of 2020. After a short 6 hour drive, we had finally gotten the chance to share our first hug in what felt like forever. We got to spend a whole week together sitting down by the beach, watching scary movies, going on dinner dates, and meeting her incredibly welcoming friends and family. He even got to celebrate his 23rd birthday with Sarah, on which she got him the best gifts, and they laughed while he took shots of whiskey while listening to Panama. But most importantly, it was all about the opportunity of just getting to exist together for a while, and forget about the distance between us.

One of Sarah’s favorite memories is when they went to a county fair in Maryland. We spent six hours riding rides, eating food, seeing shows, and eating more food. Then, towards the end of the night, she saw a gigantic stuffed raccoon at the rubber duck ring toss game. Instantly, they both mutually understood she had to have it. So Frank played an unimportant amount of games and spent a [redacted] amount of money. Finally, he won the game, but apparently the worker at the game “didn’t see”. Frank argued though until Sarah walked out a raccoon about ⅔ the size of her body, and a smile. It was a perfect summer date.

Frank proposed on March 9, 2024. He decorated their shared apartment, played their song, and finished a scrapbook he’s been making for years. He left the last page for this day, where he put a picture of a diamond and wrote how today was the start to forever. Then he got down on one knee, she said yes, then tackled him to the ground. After recovering from that, he put the ring on her, she cried a lot, and they celebrated with family and friends at Sarah’s parents’ house. It was the perfect day and made them very excited for their journey ahead.
