Our Wedding

Michael and I did not talk about plans for a wedding or proposal. We talked about morals and life goals which included a wedding but never any details around plans. I was ready to live in the moment and see where life took me. No plans or deadlines. We planned a trip to Santa Cruz with my Grammy and Auntie Jan. It was a time to visit and have some summer fun at the Boardwalk. Every time my family went to Santa Cruz we would go to Henry Cowell's State Park so my dad can see the trains. This trip, we planned for a picnic, but there was a public event planned for the day so my Aunt and wanted to set up early to ensure we had a place to sit. Michael, being the gentleman he is, offered to go with her so she wasn't alone. (I had no suspicions.)We got to the park, NO one there! ... (probably should have been suspicious at that point, buuuuut no). Close to our table another area was set up with decorations and birthday balloons. He looks at me and says, "lets check it out". "No" I said, "It's someones birthday and someone else's stuff". He says; no it looks cool lets go look. A second time I refused (I'm not a very good rule breaker). Pulling my arm (literally dragging me to my proposal), I noticed there was a white blanket on the ground, wine on the table and flower petals everywhere surrounded by oak trees. As we walked he said; do you know what is important ... at that moment it hit me. The man I love got down on one knee. Trembling, trying to find words, I look up to see my Dad sneak out from behind a tree. Then my Mom....and my Sister...and my Uncle. In the most important moment, I had everyone I care about most around me because of this man. I had no words. I nodded my answer and instantly started crying. I will never forget that day and what Michael did to make me the happiest I have ever been.
