Sarah & Jake originally met back in 2014 in Orlando, FL, where they both began their professional careers after college. They met through mutual friends and would hang out from time to time at various friend gatherings.
Sarah then moved to Boston, MA in 2018 for her job and said goodbye to Orlando and all her friends there, including Jake. They did not stay in touch after her move and continued on with their lives. Ironically, one year later Jake received a job offer to leave Orlando for, as fate would have it, Boston! Since Jake and Sarah weren't in touch with each other, neither of them realized the other was living in Boston at the same time... (despite the fact that Jake was at Sarah's going away party).
One day in 2021, Sarah was on LinkedIn and randomly received a notification about a work anniversary for Jake (and that he was now in Boston!). She always remembered how sweet and kind Jake was, so she reached out to Jake right then and there asking if he was really living in Boston, letting him know that she lived there, too. (Who knew LinkedIn was the hot dating app!?!)
Jake and Sarah met for dinner about a week after they reconnected, texting a little bit back and forth and catching up with each other. Jake was nervous, as the pandemic lockdowns severely limited his social interactions since moving to Boston. From Sarah's point of view, she knew from the moment Jake walked into the restaurant that night that he was going to be the one for her. She immediately got butterflies, thought how handsome he looked, and had the best time at dinner with him that night. Jake was also smitten, marveling at how beautiful Sarah looked, how easy the conversation was, and how quickly the night passed by.
Jake couldn't stop thinking about Sarah and stayed in touch after that night. A few weeks later they met back up to watch football all day, and have been together ever since. Dating was extremely fun for them. They knew each other and weren't total strangers, but still had the opportunity to get to know each other on a personal level. Many days were spent exploring nature on hikes out of the city, or bopping around downtown Boston, along with many nights filled with cooking together, playing cards, hanging with fiends, or going to listen to live music.
In 2022, Jake got another job offer that would be taking him to Indianapolis, IN. They hadn't been dating a full year yet, but Jake could feel that he was falling in love with Sarah and did not want things to end, so he asked her to move with him. Saying yes to moving to stay with each other was the best decision they could have ever made. When Florida-girl Sarah moved to the ever-balmy Midwest heartland for Jake, he knew it was the real deal.
Over the next 18 months in Indy, Jake and Sarah settled-in, exploring the city, and starting new traditions for their new life together. They have a blast traveling together, and love hosting family & friends when visiting as well.
Jake knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Sarah, and set out to plan the proposal. As an over-thinker, it took him months to settle on a plan and organize close family to be present for the special moment. He knew he wanted it to be a surprise, but had trouble finding an excuse for them both to "gussy up" without giving it away. Jake decided to work with his company to develop an invitation for a "leadership summit and cocktail reception" across the park they live on. The event required formal attire, but little did Sarah know the event did not exist. As they walked through the park, Jake stopped her, dropped to a knee, and forgot every word of the things he practiced saying 100s of times in the days prior before placing the ring on her finger. She said yes, and they spent the weekend celebrating with family.
We are so thankful to share our love with our family and friends. And thank all of you for celebrating this exciting time with us!
With love,
Sarah & Jake
