Zach and I met at Henderson State University in December 2017. At that point, He was in Phi Lambda Chi and I was in Alpha Xi Delta, so we were both planning to attend the Greek Life Formal that night. We actually met at the University Place dorms through mutual friends. The first time I met him, I did argue with him about the color of his hat (it WAS olive green!)

We acknowledged each other at Greek Life events but didnt hang out together until April, after the Greek Week Step Show. I performed with Alpha Xi, and Zach found me at The Lot afterward and complimented our performance.

(My in was getting her Snapchat username to have her create a stroll for Phi Lamb, but I knew we didn't have enough rhythm to perform it well.) He continued to Snapchat me through spring and summer, as well as change my tire when I got a flat, and we went our separate ways in the fall.

In December, we reconnected and ended up going on our first date in the Ranger (iykyk). We drove up to Little Rock on December 5th, 2018, to Olive Garden, and drove through Christmas lights. Zach was oddly okay with me singing John Denver for 20 minutes on the way home, and I have a terrible voice.

We started officially dating on January 15th, 2019. We have been through a lot together, including Sarah developing a blood clot, Zach tearing his MCL/ACL/meniscus/and other tendons, different roommates, undergraduate studies, masters degrees for both Sarah and Zach, and moving in together with some of their friends in Arkadelphia.

After living in Arkadelphia for another semester after graduating with their Masters degrees, Zach and Sarah moved to Little Rock for their jobs. They adopted Milo, their German Shepherd in October 2023.

Sarah had talked extensively about the style of ring she wanted, so Zach had a good image of what he wanted to get her in his head. After many trips to the jewelry store where Zach had to leave his phone at home because she likes to "track her little sims", he had the custom ring in hand.

Zach and Sarah went to eat dinner at the Capitol Bar & Grill with the plan to go look and see the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in downtown Little Rock. What she did not know at the time was that it was actually closed and Zach never planned to go inside.

After dinner, they went to the Fine Arts Museum where Zach said he wanted to take a walk and see some of the statues outside. He led her to the Centerium, similar to the one Henderson State University has on their campus where they first met. He got down on one knee with impeccable form from his experience with lunges and popped the Q.

Zach had one more surprise for Sarah that evening, taking her to a secret engagement party where family and friends celebrated with each other!
