David’s Perspective:
Sarah and I met for the first time in early August 2023 at Wednesday Night Discipleship Community. I joined the small group she was already in. We were good friends almost instantly.
During the first many months of knowing each other, we grew to know each other better while spending time together through small group and other friends (often seeing each other for multiple days in a row).
Eventually, we both began to develop feelings for each other. Weeks of texting and talking led to me finally asking Sarah out after a small group at the end of May.
However, we definitely weren’t the first ones to pick up on the chemistry. After we started dating, no less than 8 friends from small group (and church as a whole) informed us that they had called us dating for a while.
We had our first date two days after I had asked her out (although we had already spent hours talking on the phone between me asking and our date). We became officially official early the next week and from there, the rest is history. Sarah and I reflect frequently on how it feels like we have known each other (and been dating) for much longer than we have been. I think that speaks to how well we truly enjoy and love each other.
I consider myself so blessed to have met the love of my life when moving to Lafayette. Sarah truly is a woman of God and has such a loving, kind, and caring heart. She pushes me to be a better man. I look forward with anticipation to joining her in marriage and to start our life together as one this April surrounded by our family and friends.
Sarah’s Perspective:
I met David when a guy from group brought a couple friends (Caleb and David) to our August DC. He and Caleb got really plugged into our group almost immediately. We had been praying for a few years that God would send solid men of God to our group. I was so thankful that God used him to answer those prayers (and I had no idea the other ways God would use David to answer years of prayers)!
We became close friends pretty much immediately! We would see each other almost every day through hangouts with group and friends. I’m so thankful for the time we had getting to know each other as friends.
Eventually, that friendship started to grow into more. At first, I was pretty oblivious to it all (ask me about it - I think it was only by the grace of God!) After we had prayed about it and talked with friends who we trusted and knew us well, David asked me on our first date. We talked for hours and hours on that first date, and decided a couple days later that we should then be official!
After getting to know David even more through dating and now engagement, I could not be more excited for us to start our life together! I know that in David I will have a kind friend, a trustworthy husband, and a God-fearing leader. We’re thrilled to have our family and friends join us to celebrate the beginning of our lives together as husband and wife!
