Q + A

When should I RSVP by?

Please submit your RSVP (whether attending or not) by August 3, 2023 so that we can submit a final headcount to our vendors.

Are there any COVID-19 precautions?

Yes. Out of respect for attendees who are immunocompromised or disabled, we ask that you wear a mask. Please do not attend if you are experiencing any symptoms of viral illness; we will be happy to celebrate with you at another time.

I've never heard of VISTA, where is it?

It is just above Camp Bar in the Deer District in downtown Milwaukee. The entrance to the venue is a door to the left of Camp Bar. See the event details section of the home page for the address.

What time should I arrive?

We suggest arriving about 30 minutes before the ceremony so that you can enjoy the music of the string quartet, pick your seats, and get settled before the ceremony starts. Please allow some extra time for parking.

Where do we park?

Since it will be a Sunday, street parking is free. In addition, there are a number of parking garages and lots in the area that you can park in.

Is there a dress code?

Anywhere from wedding-casual to formal is fine!

Is this a costume wedding?

NO! Although our wedding is superhero/ comic book themed, no members of the wedding party will be in costume and it is not what we are looking for in guest attire. Subtle nods to your favorite superheroes (ie jewelry, cufflinks, etc) are totally encouraged!

Where are the ceremony/ cocktail hour/ reception taking place?

The ceremony will be outside on the balcony (weather-permitting), cocktail hour will be on the 2nd floor, and reception will be indoors on the 3rd floor. There is an elevator.

Are children allowed?

Kids at heart are encouraged, but please make arrangements to leave your actual kids (by age) at home.

Can I bring someone extra?

We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. We will only able to accommodate those invited by name and a plus one if listed on your invitation. For our polyamorous friends, if you have additional partners you would like to bring, please reach out to us so that we can accommodate them.

Will food and drinks be served at the reception? What kind of food?

Yes! Appetizers will be served at the cocktail hour and dinner catered by Smoke Shack will be served buffet-style. We are selecting carefully in order to have options available to those who are vegetarian, gluten free, etc. Dessert will be an assortment of pies from HoneyPie!

May I take any decorations/ centerpieces home as a souvenir?

You may take one or two of the comic book flowers and some of the heart-shaped confetti from the tables. However, please do not take the Funko Pops (as these are part of Sarah and Aaron's personal collection) or any other decorations unless you specifically ask the bride first.

Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?

Please do not take photos during the ceremony, as we have hired a fantastic photographer to do so. During cocktail hour and reception feel free to take/ post all the pictures you would like! Just use our hashtag #SuperSpousesSept3 so we can look back on all the wonderful memories too!

Is there a hotel block?

No, we did not reserve a hotel block. Please plan accordingly if you are coming from out of town and/or want to avoid a drive before/ after.

What should I do if I cannot make it?

We wish you could celebrate us, but we understand that life circumstances and distance can get in the way. If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly. We would be happy to share stories, pictures, and videos with you sometime after the big day!

Where are you registered?

See our registry page for more information! Cash is always welcome to help fund our honeymoon and someday a new home. We also encourage donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network www.pancan.org.

Anything else I should know?

Our wedding is an LGBTQIA+, multiracial celebration. If any part of that makes you uncomfortable, please refrain from attending.

Honeymoon plans?

We are doing a minimoon at the Wilderness Resort in the Dells the week after our wedding! We'd love gifts of experiences such as the Duck Tours, minigolf at Pirates Cove, spa treatments at Sundara, arcade money, etc! Our bigger honeymoon will be somewhere tropical (location TBD) in February of 2024.
