Nate and Sarah met in September of 2014 at UW-La Crosse. That year they both lived on the International floor of Eagle Hall, where they were roommates with students from around the world. With the amount of students from around the world, their whole floor spent a lot of time together going to almost every meal together at Whitney hall, along with other events and celebrations. Throughout the 2014-2015 school year, their RA made it her mission to be a match maker and set the two of them up. Well to her demise, it worked. Once the school year ended Nate and Sarah both moved into separate apartments in La Crosse, but still found time to see each other and spend time together. Sarah spent most of her time at Nate's apartment and the both of them were busy working that summer.

Once the following school year rolled around they still made time to see each other as much as possible and their relationship grew. Nate eventually introduced Sarah to his family at one of his football games, then she met the rest of his family at his brothers wedding in 2016. Sarah introduced Nate to her family slowly as well and then he met the whole family at her cabin in 2017.

Nate graduated from UW-Lacrosse in the spring of 2017. Once Nate graduated he moved back to Kenosha. Nate and Sarah then had to figure out how and when they would see each other as they were living on opposite sides of the state. They spent just shy of three years living apart. Sarah then graduated from UW-La Crosse in the spring of 2020 in the midst of COVID-19. She then moved into an apartment that Nate had in Madison and the rest is history.

They have spent the last several years establishing their careers in law enforcement and education. They bought their first house in the spring of 2021, adopted Waylon in June of 2021, got engaged in October 2023, and most recently they sold their first house and bought a new one in the spring of 2024!
