Nic & Sarah met on a dating app (Bumble to be exact) where the girls have to message the guys first and the guys then have 24 hours to respond or you lose the match.

Sarah swiped right on Nic when she saw his smile and baby blue eyes and eventually, Nic swiped right on Sarah which meant they matched!

Nic had in his Bumble bio that he liked whiskey when it's neat and that he loved snowboarding and the outdoors. Sarah started the 24 hour countdown with a curious question and asked Nic, "Whiskey when it's neat? What exactly does that mean?". Nic responded with "Neat just means served without ice and no mixers. Straight as an arrow - don't want to ruin its flavor"

After then learning about each other and all the inbetweens, Nic & Sarah agreed to finally take things to the next level and meet in person!

Nic gave Sarah 3 options for a first date -

"Three options you can pick from...

1. Happy hour -> escape room -> downtown

2. Short hike to catch the sunset

3. Wine or whiskey drinking

Pick wisely"

Sarah shared the same passion of loving the outdoors so obviously the sunset hike was the winner!

Naturally, since Sarah was meeting Nic for the first time, she had to tell her mom and best friends every detail she knew about him just in case this would be a fishy meetup ;)

Nic picked Sarah up on May 18th, 2018 for their sunset hike to Hamilton Mountain in the gorge and had the best night with endless conversation!

After a few more dates and lots of time recruiting football players at high school games for George Fox University (hanging out during football season meant never ending football), Nic & Sarah made the relationship official on November 4th, 2018 (even though Nic always joked it was the 5th so that they could've celebrated their 6 month anniversary on Cinco de Mayo...)

Nic & Sarah eventually moved into their first apartment together in January 2019 where they resided for the next 3 years!

Fast forward to December 24th, 2021 -

Nic & Sarah knew that they shared a love for snowboarding since they started dating and decided one day, they haven't tried anything else on Mt Hood together so why not rent some snowshoes and go snowshoeing?! So they did! They went and snowshoed around Trillium Lake during the most magical snow fall and Nic ended the hike with getting down on one knee and asking Sarah to spend forever with him!! She said - 100% YES!!

Since then, the two have enjoyed a long 2.5 year engagement, secured their lovely first home in Hillsboro, OR (Feb/ 2023) and have adopted their first dog-son, Frank (Jan/ 2024). Coming up on almost 5 1/2 years together, Nic & Sarah are very eager to spend forever with each other and many more years of adventures!!
