Q + A

What's the dress code

Dress code is Aloha formal (google for reference!) It is a wedding, so please dress nicely - but don't give yourself heat stroke. No white dresses or plain white dress shirts, gimmicky Hawaii shirts (dressy ones are fine), cargo shorts, jeans or slides/flip flops, and as much as the bride loves them, no crocs.

Why don't you have your wedding venue address listed?

Our venue is private property, the owners do not allow public visits or tours and cannot be found on google. We will have an address available closer to our date that we will be happy to share if you need it.

How are we getting to the venue?

We will be providing transportation from the Prince Waikiki hotel up the mountain to our wedding location, and then back down to Waikiki for the reception. If you are renting a car because you want to/need to drive yourselves please let us know ahead of time so we can get you information on how to get there. SHUTTLE BUS LOADS AT 3:10pm and DEPARTS at 3:15pm OUT OF THE PRINCE WAIKIKI VALET AREA. THERE IS ONLY ONE BUS- PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY

Transportation/plans after the reception?

Since all our guests are not staying in the same hotel we are not providing transportation back to the Prince Waikiki - please consider using Uber/Lyft (especially after a cocktail or two). Depending on time (and exhaustion level) we may look to stay out a bit after our dinner has concluded. We'll keep you posted!

Is there any events before or after the wedding in Hawaii

We are keeping the plans pretty loose - besides the wedding day itself. The day after the wedding is the start of our honeymoon so please don't take offense if we don't see you that day. We will keep everyone posted on activities we'd like others to join us for during our stay. If you want to make plans with us for activities please ask us about it!

Do I need to rent a car to get around the island?

That is entirely up to you. Oahu is one of the more populated/tourist islands so Uber and Lyft are available. We have confirmed UBER and LYFT can pick you up from and take you to the airport. If you go to any of the more remote areas of the island (like the northern point) it is strongly suggested you do a car rental for the day.

What is the sunscreen rule in Hawaii?

As of January 2021 all sunscreen products on the islands must be reef safe. Sunscreen ingredients cannot include oxybenzone and ocinoxate SO CHECK YOUR LABELS! (By the way this is a LAW - so don't break it) Brands like Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer, Neutrogena Beach Defense and Coppertone have these banned chemicals, we suggest not buying these! On Amazon or Google search “reef safe sunscreen” and look for Hawaii 104 compliant. Sun Bum, Kokua, are great brands Or if you wait to purchase on the island the sunscreens are all compliant!
