Our Wedding

Over 20 Years in the Making

The first time we met (2001) we talked for hours about music, but it was several years later before we started dating. 🎶 On one of our first dates, Kevin and his friend had to pass a MSC inquisition (Sarah's parents' friend group). Kevin let his friend do all the talking, as to not get caught in a trap or dig himself a hole. 😉 Kevin's military enlistment ended in 2005 and he invited Sarah to visit is hometown with him. That is when Kevin's nephew started calling us boyfriend/girlfriend, while encountering "Indians" in the wilderness of North Carolina. 😄 After his enlistment, Kevin's original plans got scrapped and so he moved to Tallahassee to go to school. Shortly after, Sarah (conveniently) started attending FSU in Tallahassee also and within in a few months we were sharing a one bedroom apartment.🗺️ We adopted our first fur-baby, Delaney (named for the street we lived on at the time), and bought a house near FSU a couple of months later in 2006.🏠 In 2007, our second fur-baby, Ariel, joined the family and our family was complete (for a while).💜 There were many ups and downs over the years, which revealed our true character and tested the strength of our relationship. With each challenge, our commitment to one another grew deeper. 💞 When we lost Ariel in 2021 and then Delaney in 2022, there was a void in our family, which was quickly filled a week later with the addition of Meeko (who we won in an Instagram Valentine's Day contest).🐕‍🦺 2023 was a tumultuous year, but Meeko was ready for a brother and so Finn found his home with us.🦮 Christmas day 2024 was when Kevin proposed, with the help of her family (unknowingly). Sarah had our wedding venue booked within a month. 🤭 In February we found out our family would be growing once again, but this time it would be a less furry addition. 😍 July 2025 marks our 20th "anniversary". After all that time, both the marriage and baby were unexpected... by everyone.✨ Late September, we will welcome our newest member to the crew. Luckily, we were already planning on having a low-key wedding! 😎 So, here we are in 2025 embracing our new future together, deepening our commitment to one another, and looking forward to share a big/special moment with you at our wedding. 🎉

Places to Stay

If you are wondering where you should stay, we have provided a few options below, some close to the wedding venue and some close to family. Overall, it really just depends on what you plan to do on your trip...If you want to be close to the wedding venue, you should stay on Okaloosa Island.If you want to be close to family, Niceville is where you will want to be.If you want to have a more upscale vacation, check out Destin. There are lots of hotels, Air B&amp;B's, and VRBO's in the area. So, feel free to do your own search to find what fits your style and budget. TIP: If you know others who are coming to the wedding, maybe get a nice big house on Air B&amp;B or VRBO to share!

☕ Coffee

Probably our favorite coffee shop in the area. It is close to the Lewis family and serves Lucky Goat coffee (our favorite coffee in Tallahassee).

MJ’s Place

If you like minimalistic craft coffee, you should try this place. Nothing too fancy but everything is handmade.

Wondah Coffee

Highly rated local coffee shop that also serves breakfast food.

Fernweh Coffee Roastery

🍲 Restaurants

They have multiple locations, but this is some of the best simple seafood in the area.

Stewby's Seafood Shanty

Another family favorite. Super close to the Lewis family and simple menu.

Pounders Hawaiian Grill - Niceville

Perhaps the best Asian food in the area (at lest in Niceville).

Sawadee Thai Cuisine

Good food and quick service (drive-thru only). They have really good, fresh made lemonade too.

Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q

A local hidden gem. Great food but it is a small place and very busy. They may not do pick up orders, so call ahead if you want to go here.

TradeWinds Italian Restaurant

More than just donuts! This was a favorite spot when we lived in this area.

Donut Hole Bakery and Cafe

A cozy little spot not far from the wedding venue.

Beachview Breakfast & Grill

One of our favorite breakfast places in this area and in Tallahassee.

⛳ Activities

Technically a restaurant, but also a great place for easy access to the white sand beaches.

Crab Trap Destin

A beach access spot very close to the wedding venue that has shops, restaurants, and nightlife.

The Boardwalk, Okaloosa Island

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park

Good, old fashioned mini golf fun. A place we went early in our relationship.

Goofy Golf

If you are into military history you will probably enjoy this. Linked to Kevin's military job.

Air Force Armament Museum

This is a great place for an easy walk in nature. For a while, it was a family tradition whenever family visited.

Turkey Creek Park

Shopping, restaurants, and activities (including a movie theater).

Destin Commons

A popular shopping center not far from the wedding venue.
