Due to the Pandemic in 2020, Jorge unfortunately (or fortunately) lost his first Co-op while at Drexel. If he had worked there, it would have likely extended the following year during his second Co-op cycle. Instead, during the next cycle in 2021, he was offered a position for a company closer to home, but opted to choose a farther position paying less, solely for the experience it would bring.
Meanwhile, Sarah was frantically looking for a summer internship. She ended up landing interviews at two different companies with one being her top choice. She had planned to work at that company for the summer, until she found out that they could not take her due to Covid restrictions. So, she ended up accepting the offer she received from the other company.
And so, in March of 2021 Jorge would start his Co-op Cycle at Hikma Pharmaceuticals in Cherry Hill, NJ. Unbeknownst to him, just 3 months later Sarah would be starting her summer internship in the same department at the same company. Over the course of the summer, leading up to the end of Sarah's internship, they would develop a strong friendship. By the end of the summer, both knew they wanted to stay in each other lives for a long time to come.
