You could say it all started with a ride home from the airport, but that would be getting ahead of ourselves. A better place to start would be when Alex visited the North Sound Church of Christ for the first time. It was not love at first sight, or anything like that, but a seed of curiosity was planted for them both. During the succeeding year and a half Sarah expertly avoided one-on-one interactions with Alex, preferring to keep the relationship platonic and surface-level. It was clear that their time had not come yet. Then August of 2023 arrived. Enter the aforementioned ride home from the airport. Sarah was arriving back in Bellingham after her annual trip to California and her usual ride home was dealing with major car issues. This led her to reach out to their church's young professional group chat asking if anyone could give her a ride home, internally promising to give whoever picked her up a coffee in thanks. Enter Alex. Alex saw an opportunity for deeper conversation and, so, gladly offered to give her a ride home. Sarah, panicking internally, offered her thanks and the promise of coffee. A few weeks later, at one of many local coffee shops, Sarah strategically let Alex order his coffee first to see whether or not the "thank you coffee" would be just that, or something more. Alex, completely oblivious to this subterfuge, ordered it to stay, prompting the first of many coffee dates. Over the months following their initial coffee "date" the pair began to spend time building a friendship and after a while, it became clear that a relationship was blossoming between the two of them. It was at this time that Sarah and Alex began planning out how Alex's two boys (Lincoln and August) might be brought into the relationship. After officially dating for a couple of months, the time was right and the kids (and Sarah) were ready to be introduced. The meeting went wonderfully and the four eagerly anticipated whatever came next. Which leads us to now. Unbeknownst to Sarah, Alex had found an opportunity to visit her parents Mother's Day weekend and ask for her father's blessing. Once this crucial step was completed, Alex then proceeded to pick out a ring for his bride-to-be. With the ring and the blessing acquired a plan was created, and set into motion by Father's Day weekend. Sarah's parents were visiting (at Alex's request), and Alex had his boys with him that weekend: the stage was set. While going on a walk with both of the families Alex stopped and got Sarah's attention, pointing at an imaginary bird. With her properly confused and fully distracted, Alex got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said "WHAT?" and then quickly followed up with a "yes, of course." We are so excited to share this special day with you all in whatever ways you are able to participate. Thank you for reading, and we are ready to live happily ever after, unto the end of our days.
