Our Wedding

We met on October 24, 2020, a day that quietly became the start of everything. In the midst of COVID, with De’Juan living in Saginaw after college and Sarah in Grand Rapids, we took a chance and met for brunch at Tupelo Honey. After a few mimosas and a lot of laughs, the morning turned into an entire day of taking photos around the city, getting wings, and watching football.Our love story has not been linear, but it has been richer, more meaningful, and more transformative than anything we could have imagined. Together, we have grown as individuals, as partners, and in our relationship with God. We have learned what it means to choose each other with love, patience, and intention every single day.We are best friends in every sense. We share a love for our dog Peaches, for great food, for traveling, for music and the symphony, for wandering into a comic book store or a new coffee shop, for running and being active, and for discovering more about life and each other as we grow.Each one of you has played a special role in our story. Your support, your love, your presence in our lives has shaped us in ways big and small. We are so grateful to celebrate this day with the people who have walked alongside us through every season.

We are getting married at Alila Ventana Big Sur, a luxury adults-only resort nestled among the redwoods with breathtaking views of the coastline and mountains. This is where our ceremony and reception will be held, and it’s truly magical.
