Our Wedding

Welcome, friends and family! We’re so excited to share this special time with all of you. Many of you have known us through different parts of our lives—whether from childhood, college, or more recent adventures—but not everyone may know our story. So, as we prepare for our wedding day, we wanted to take a moment to share how we met, fell in love, and came to be in this chapter of our lives together. Sarah and Craig’s met in 2019, the summer before their freshman year at Appalachian State University, where they both lived in Mountaineer Hall. Their connection was immediate, and they quickly found excuses to see each other, despite their busy schedules as student-athletes—Sarah played volleyball, and Craig played football. Their first “date” was a visit to Trash Can Falls, a waterfall outside of Boone, and favorite hang out spot among students. Not long after, Craig officially asked Sarah to be his girlfriend on September 15, 2019, following a dinner date in downtown Boone. That fall, they met each other's families at football games, and shared their first birthdays and holidays together. In spring 2020, everything changed with the pandemic. Craig moved back to Arizona, and Sarah returned to South Carolina, leaving them to navigate a long-distance relationship. Despite the distance, they stayed connected through FaceTime calls, letters, and visits until they could return to Boone. Sophomore year marked their return to campus, and their relationship continued to grow as they supported each other through the challenges of college life and pandemic uncertainties. Living just down the street from one another, they were inseparable. Junior year brought more fun memories. Craig became a regular at Sarah’s sorority functions, and Sarah remained a dedicated football girlfriend, cheering Craig on during his games. Senior year brought even more milestones. Craig graduated in December 2022, while Sarah finished her degree in May 2023. They made the most of their “lasts” in Boone together while Craig began his MBA at App State, and Sarah moved home to Charleston and began nursing school. In January 2024, the couple went ring shopping together in downtown Charleston, but Craig made sure the proposal would still be a surprise. On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Craig had plans to propose to Sarah after an unforgettable holiday weekend in Charleston. After a morning at church with Sarah’s family, the two spent the afternoon at the beach. Later that evening, after dinner at Magnolia’s, Craig suggested "taking the long way home" and led Sarah down East Bay Street toward the famous Rainbow Row. Just past the last colorful house, Craig pulled her into Longitude Lane, where he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Sarah, of course, said yes! Afterwards, they celebrated their engagement with a surprise party surrounded by local family and friends. It was a perfect evening filled with love, excitement, and celebration. Since their engagement, Craig moved to Phoenix to start his new job, while Sarah finished school in Charleston and began working as a nurse. They’ve been able to plan trips and spend weekends visiting one another during their final stretch apart. They are loving this season of engagement as they prepare for their wedding in October 2025. Sarah and Craig are both incredibly grateful for all the love and support they’ve received and are looking forward to celebrating their special day with the people they love most!

We will not have official room blocks for our wedding weekend, but for those that prefer a hotel, we recommend staying at the Shem Creek Inn. It's conveniently located near our ceremony and reception, and within walking distance of great restaurants, bars, and activities. If you prefer vacation rentals or Airbnbs, we suggest looking in South Mount Pleasant, close to where our wedding day events will take place. For those who want to explore, downtown Charleston is a great option that offers plenty of charm and historic sites to enjoy during your stay. Sarah grew up in Mount Pleasant, a charming town where the wedding events will take place, and Craig proposed on Longitude Lane near Rainbow Row in downtown Charleston. Things to do during your stay

Mount Pleasant

Shem Creek is a lively waterway known for its views, seafood restaurants, and recreational activities. A walk along Shem Creek Park’s boardwalk gives visitors a chance to see shrimp boats and wildlife in action too. The park offers a great spot for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply enjoying the atmosphere. Stay late for vibrant nightlife at places like Red's Ice House, Saltwater Cowboy's, Muddy's, and Shelter.

Shem Creek 

Where you can cast a line, hunt for sharks teeth, or take a peaceful walk on their pedestrian paths and take in the panoramic views of the Charleston Harbor and the Intercostal waterway along Sullivan's Island! This is a not so hidden neighborhood gem, and a Missroon family favorite.

Pitt Street Bridge

In the quaint "downtown" of the Old Village neighborhood you will find this local pharmacy and old-fashioned soda counter that Sarah grew up going to after school and in the summertime. We recommend their egg salad sandwich and a homemade milkshake! Pop into the other local shops next door for home decor, artwork, coffee, or drinks. Here, you'll find many buildings, including the pharmacy, that were used in the filming of the hit Netflix show Outer Banks.

Pitt Street Pharmacy

This park is one of our favorite spots to relax and take in some salty air. Located under the Ravenel Bridge, it includes a long pier stretching out into the harbor, trails, playgrounds, a splash pad, dog park, basketball courts, access to the bridge pedestrian path, and picturesque views.

Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park

If you’re a history enthusiast (or even if you’re not!), Patriots Point is a must-see. You will see the massive USS Yorktown aircraft carrier parked on the Mount Pleasant coast as you cross the Ravenel Bridge. Here you can tour the ship, step aboard a submarine, and learn about Charleston’s naval history. It’s a fun experience for all ages, with amazing harbor views as a bonus!

Explore one of Charleston's most famous landmarks, the City Market. This vibrant space is perfect for shopping local crafts, artisanal goods, and souvenirs. You can experience the city's rich history while supporting small businesses and artists.

Broad Street is where Charleston’s Southern charm comes to life. Lined with stunning historic buildings, boutique shops, and cozy cafes, it’s an iconic street, and one of the couples favorite spots. We recommend getting coffee and a pastry at Sorelle, and walking over to Washington park.

This colorful row of pastel-painted homes on East Bay Street is one of Charleston’s most famous landmarks. Rainbow Row is a great place to take in the beauty of Charleston’s historic architecture—and snap a few pictures to remember your trip! If you walk to the end of the colorful houses, you will find Longitude Lane where Craig popped the question!

At the southern tip of the peninsula, White Point Garden and The Battery offer a peaceful escape surrounded by history. Wander through the oak trees of the garden that is now a bird sanctuary, admire the grand homes, and enjoy the stunning views of Charleston Harbor.

Stroll along this historic waterfront and enjoy the stunning views of the harbor and Charleston's iconic Pineapple Fountain. This park is a favorite for tourists and locals alike, offering beautiful gardens, benches to relax, and plenty of photo opportunities. You'll find many great restaurants and hotels within walking distance too.

A peaceful park nestled in the Harleston Village neighborhood of downtown, Colonial Lake is a local favorite for leisurely strolls and scenic views. During the summer they got engaged, Sarah lived on the corner of the lake, and the couple spent many relaxing afternoons walking along the water. It's a perfect spot for a quiet escape.

Station 18 is a charming spot where visitors can enjoy a beach day with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. We recommend grabbing food and frose from the original Co-Op location on the way out there, or stopping at Poe's Tavern for the best burger in town on your way off the beach.

For any fellow history buffs, Fort Moultrie is a must visit spot, located on Sullivan’s Island. This historic fort has defended Charleston’s coast since the Revolutionary War and offers a look at how coastal defense evolved over the centuries. It’s a great mix of history and gorgeous waterfront views with a beach access at Station 12, and a great spot to watch the sunset.

Coastal Formal

We kindly as that our guest dress in Coastal Formal attire for our wedding day celebrations. Think classic formal attire, with a coastal inspired twist.

Ladies: Women are encouraged to wear midi to floor-length dresses, or chic jumpsuits in elevated fabrics—whatever best suits your personal flair, while being polished and occasion-appropriate.

Gentlemen: We kindly request that men wear a suit with a tie or bow tie. Classic options like navy, charcoal, or black are always appropriate, but feel free to embrace the setting with softer, coastal-inspired tones such as light blue, stone gray, sand, or sage. If you have a tuxedo, this is the perfect occasion to bring it out. A seersucker suit is also a stylish and fitting choice for our celebration by the water.

Rehearsal Dinner Dress Code

Charleston Casual

For our rehearsal dinner in historic downtown Charleston, we’re asking guests to dress in Charleston Casual attire—a polished, coastal-inspired take on dressy casual.

Ladies: Cocktail, midi, or maxi length dresses or dressy separates are perfect. Feel free to wear lighter fabrics, softer, beachy tones, and floral prints. Heels, flats, or sandals are a great finishing touch.

Gentlemen: Khaki pants or dress pants with a button-down shirt. A lightweight blazer or dinner jacket is encouraged but not required. Ties optional but welcome.

Please no jeans, shorts, flip-flops! Think what you would wear to a nice vacation dinner!—perfect for a special night in the Lowcountry.
