The island is home to four golf courses, and it is Georgia's largest public golf resort.
The hotel itself provides opportunities for croquet, cycling, swimming and tennis.
It is also a historical destination with numerous historical markers and sights. It was the site of the first transcontinental telephone call, the birthplace of the Federal Reserve, and a favorite vacation spot of the Morgans, Rockefellers and Vanderbilts.
As an island, Jekyll offers many opportunities for beachcombers. The Jekyll Island Club Hotel offers private beach access for its guests as well as chair and umbrella rentals near the southern end of the island. At the northern tip of the island, you can take in the natural sights of Driftwood Beach.
