Sarah and Joel first met at Summit Drive Church in the Autumn of 2022. They were first introduced to one another at the Church's Young Adults group.

Sarah and Joel shared many interests and their friendship grew steadily for about 1.5 years. In the summer of 2023, Joel, Sarah, and three other friends hiked Trophy Mountain in Wells Gray Park, and that was the moment Joel took a keen notice of Sarah and her fun sense of adventure. In November of that year, Sarah and Joel began taking evening walks together. Over time their friendship bloomed into a loving, committed relationship.

In a very short period of time, it was very clear that Joel and Sarah were in love with each other. Their interests, values, goals, and love for Jesus and one another built a foundation of trust, love, and respect (despite them constantly pestering each other for attention).

On May 10, 2024, Joel proposed to Sarah under the stars and the beautiful, dancing Northern Lights. SHE SAID YES!
