WHAT'S AN AUFRUF?
There is a custom in Jewish tradition to honor a couple on the Shabbat morning before the wedding by calling them up for an aliyah - an opportunity to bless to the Torah during the Torah service. Sarah and Ari will receive an aliyah at the synagogue where Sarah works (she's known as Rabbi Noyo there).
I'M NOT JEWISH. CAN I COME?
All are invited to attend, Jews and non-Jews!
WHAT WILL SARAH AND ARI DO?
After they complete the aliyah, they will receive a special Mi Shebeirach blessing from Rabbi B, and people will probably then throw candy at them to wish them a sweet marriage.
WHEN EXACTLY IS THIS PART?
The service begins at 9:30 am, but feel free to waltz in at 10:00 or so - the Torah service will likely begin around 10:30.
DO I NEED TO RSVP?
Our families are sponsoring the kiddush after the service, and we need to know how many people are coming so we can have enough food!
We've added this event to everyone's RSVP options, so even if you've RSVP'd already, you can go in to add this! Otherwise, please text or email Sarah or Ari if you plan to come and we'll do it for you. ❤️
