Wedding Day

February – 2021: The BeginningIt was during the Pandemic and Sarah was working as a Hostess for Chili’s.&nbsp;Christian and some of his friends had come in.&nbsp;He and his friends were trying to meet girls at the mall. Christian had tried to get a girl’s number, but she shut him down. His friends said he should try with the pretty Hostess girl.&nbsp;Christian recognized her tattoos and asked if she was “Smiley,” (an old nickname she had.)&nbsp;Sarah got “weirded-out.”&nbsp;He had recognized her from Sonlight Christian Camp outside of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where she worked one summer.&nbsp;He did not ask her for her number or ask her out.&nbsp;Sarah asked if he had her Instagram from Camp and to reach out to her there.&nbsp; The met up at Buffalo Wild Wings on a date as friends.&nbsp;Sarah said she was looking for a friendship only.&nbsp;She was going through some tough time with her mental health and Christian stuck by her and supported her through her challenges.&nbsp;He showed her what a true friend should be because had not had any good honest friends for a long time.&nbsp;Then Christian tried to show Sarah he like her more than just as a friend, but she was oblivious. July – 2021: The MoveJuly 4th, they attended multiple parties and at the end of the night, attended a neighborhood block party that had a few hiccups. Sarah witnessed a great deal of care and compassion by Christian on the behalf of others, and Sarah realized he was taking care of her the same way for the last several months.&nbsp;From that point on, we had 4 actual dates in about 6 weeks.&nbsp;She noticed and felt he was so different from the other guys she had dated.&nbsp;He raised the bar in ways she did not realize needing raising.&nbsp;He helped her to have higher standards.&nbsp;When they made dating official, Sarah was offered a job 3 hours away in Red River, NM.&nbsp; They traveled back and forth to be with each other.&nbsp;The first time they both traveled to see each other they got stopped by the police.&nbsp;He got a warning; she got a ticket.&nbsp;The distance only lasted 6 months and then she moved back to Albuquerque. Christian helped to pack her things up in the U-Haul and bring her back.&nbsp; March –July&nbsp;2024: The ProposalBy now they had moved into their 2nd apartment, had their second cat and Sarah was bringing up the idea of marriage.&nbsp;Christian was deflecting the conversations for 5 months.&nbsp;Little did she know he had been planning to propose all this time.&nbsp; They took a trip to Round Rock, Texas for the July 4th week.&nbsp;Christian’s best friend from elementary school, Diego, lived there and they stayed with him.&nbsp;The week went something like this: Monday, they visited Austin and made rugs at a craft place.&nbsp;Tuesday, they took the paddle boards and kayaked out to the river and had a great time despite the sunburns.&nbsp;Wednesday, they went to the largest Natural Watering Hole, Blue Hole on the San Gabriel River.&nbsp;Thursday, they went tubing in San Marcos for 5 hours.&nbsp;Thursday was the 4th of July.&nbsp;When they came back from tubing, Diego and Sarah left to get groceries.&nbsp;When she got back, there were Rose petals in the house leading to the back yard.&nbsp;Diego, George and Paige, had their phones out and Sarah was oblivious and forgot it was their dating anniversary (3 years.)&nbsp;She was exhausted from all the tubing.&nbsp;She walked into the backyard through the Rose petals and Christian is on one knee and playing in the background is the song “Wondering Why.”&nbsp;&nbsp;Sarah was so shocked and surprised, Christian was overflowing with emotion with his speech, she came down to his level, hugged him, and said yes in his ear.
