Although Mike and Sarah shared several mutual friends, it wasn't until Sarah's sophomore year and Mike's junior year at Illinois State University that their paths finally crossed. Sarah was a sophomore, studying Social Work, and living in her sorority house. Mike was a Junior, studying Finance, living in his fraternity. They met on a random weeknight when Sarah was convinced to go out by her two best friends to hang out at Delta Chi. In a small group, Sarah and Mike had the chance to meet and talk one-on-one over Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, and the rest was history.

Sarah and Mike's relationship grew over long distance that summer – Sarah still living in Champaign, going on Birthright, and Mike in Downers Grove. Once they were back at school in the fall, they decided to make it official over Homecoming weekend.

From 2015 to the present, Sarah and Mike have celebrated graduations, birthdays, and weddings. They moved to Chicago, lived with friends in Lakeview and Old Town, traveled the world, spent time with family, gained two nephews, and, most importantly, grew together as individuals and as a couple.

Sarah and Mike moved in together during Covid in August 2020 and welcomed home their favorite golden boy, Simba, shortly after. They've shared many special moments together and now look forward to the biggest one yet, their wedding day.
