Our Wedding

Where we met.

It was February 2018. We met at Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River - yup, that's where we're getting married! We were both adult leaders at Presentation's annual Antioch Weekend retreat for high school students. We officially met in the back of the Church during lunch. Eddie was housing a pulled pork sandwich when he offered Sarah a handshake. Eddie asked for her number the next day.

So it was a chance meeting?

Yes and no. It was more of a set up, but a drawn out one. One of Sarah's best friends, Liz, had been telling her about this great guy she knew in Connecticut (where Sarah worked) that could show her around. Liz and her family continued to encourage the meeting for over a year before we finally met at Presentation. The meeting at Church, though, wasn't planned - or at least we don't think it was. Sarah had gotten involved in Antioch Weekend to try something new and step outside her comfort zone. Eddie's job required weekends, so he wasn't sure he'd be able to make it until that same day. You could say it was fate.

Who said 'I love you' first?

Sarah did on their first trip to Martha's Vineyard with Eddie's family. Eddie reciprocated a few months later.

The proposal.

Fast forward 5 years. It was the last weekend in September of 2023. A few weeks prior, Eddie had told Sarah that he had a surprise weekend planned for them, but wouldn't tell her where they were going. Leading up to the weekend, Eddie gave Sarah vague answers about what to pack, what we might be doing and whether Stella, their puppy, would be able to come with. The surprise weekend wound up being in Martha's Vineyard, a place we vacationed several times with Eddie's family. But this time it was just us. That Saturday was rainy, gross. Eddie had planned for them to go to Menemsha Beach to watch the sunset, followed by a nice dinner in Edgartown. They get to the beach and it's raining sideways. Despite Eddie's pleading, Sarah refuses to get out of the car. There wasn't even a sunset to watch! Sunday was slightly better, weather-wise. Eddie suggested they head back to Menemsha (again) to watch the sunset. He packed a small picnic - wine, cheese, a TON of blankets and two beach chairs. They were the only two people crazy enough to actually sit on the beach - everyone else was in their cars. Eddie started filming the sunset from their beach chairs, and then suggested that they stand up and take a selfie. After perfectly placing us in view of the phone he was filming on, Eddie took a ring out of his jacket, knelt down and asked Sarah if she'd be Mrs. Kennedy. Sarah, of course, said yes through tears.

Looking for something a little more home-y than a hotel? There are plenty of Airbnb options around our reception venue. We recommend staying in Pelham or White Plains, but keep in mind that you'll need to coordinate your own ride home after the reception. Shuttles will not go to individual homes or rentals.

Shuttle service

For those staying at the hotel, we have arranged for a shuttle to depart from the hotel at 6:15pm sharp and arrive at the venue no later than 7pm (just in time for cocktail hour!). Once the reception concludes, the shuttle will depart from the venue at 1am and return our guests to the hotel. Please plan to drive or carpool with others from the ceremony to the hotel (or to the venue directly if you're not staying at the hotel).

John F. Kennedy Airport

LaGuardia Airport

Both of the above airports are in Queens, NY and are less than an hour from our venue. LaGuardia is less of a hassle to get in and out of (and it's newly renovated!) but JFK has a wider variety of routes in and out of the area. <a href="https://www.kayak.com/flights" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">KAYAK.com</a> is a great option for finding the best flight for you at a good price, but we're pretty biased (Sarah has worked there for almost 7 years).

Wedding Party

What should I wear?

Our wedding is a black tie affair.

Gents: Tuxedos are preferred. Formal dinner suits are also acceptable. Ladies: Floor-length evening gowns are preferred. Formal cocktail dresses or jumpsuits are also acceptable. Don't be afraid to add a little pizazz to your look via color, sparkle or accessories. It's New Year's Eve, after all!

Are my kids invited?

Nope. This is an adults-only celebration. We love your kids, but we also know they've got an early bedtime. Hopefully we've given you enough advance notice to make arrangements to celebrate our big day and ring in the New Year with us!

Can I bring a date?

Unless a plus one is named on the invitation, we unfortunately cannot allow you to bring a guest due to space limitations. We appreciate your understanding!

Is Stella in the wedding?

Unfortunately not. Stella will make a brief appearance for some family portraits prior to our wedding mass, but we've arranged a playdate with a friend for the rest of the evening. She prefers to be in bed by 9:30 anyway.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes, there is ample parking at Glen Island Harbour Club. You can either park in the lot yourself, or take advantage of the valet service that will be offered. You are also welcome to leave your car overnight in the lot and pick it up the next morning if you plan to drink at our reception.
