Josh and Sarah both grew up in Danville, Virginia, crossing paths many times in their lives. They saw a lot of each other growing up, from swim lessons as young children to dinners shared between their families and mutual friends. They spent weeks together on mission trips and many Sunday afternoons involved in youth activities or giving a casual wave in the school hallways. Although it may seem like there were many opportunities for them to become friends, God was preparing them to "meet" at the right time.

After completing his second year at Bridgewater College, Josh was home for a few months working a summer job and going about his normal routine, which included church on Sundays. Sarah was preparing to start her first year of college away at Virginia Commonwealth University, nervous about leaving everything she knew to start a new chapter of her life. What seemed like a normal Sunday morning and a quick, casual conversation in Sunday school ultimately changed both of their lives.

Josh and Sarah began texting and quickly discovered how much they got along, eventually spending time together in person and becoming more than friends. They began official "dating" on July 10, 2018 - one month before heading off to separate colleges.

Over the next 3 years, they were able to maintain a long-distance relationship, coming home often from school to see each other. Josh graduated from college in December of 2019, going back to Danville and working as a scribe at Martinsville Family Medicine, while Sarah remained in Richmond. Not long after, however, the pandemic brought her back home for over a year and they were able to spend more time together.

After three years of occasional long-distance and a whole lot of good times and happiness, Josh proposed to Sarah at Smith Mountain Lake surrounded by all of the people that they love on June 11, 2021.

In July of 2021, Josh began his first year of medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. Sarah began her senior year of college a month later at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Over the next year, they will continue their last year apart while planning their wedding. Sarah will graduate in May 2022 with a BFA in Graphic Design while Josh continues his schooling. Two short months later, they will get married on July 9, 2022 (one day before their 4 year "dating" anniversary) and begin their married life together in Blacksburg.

Josh will continue his schooling at VCOM for the next three years while Sarah works full-time as a Communications and Graphic Designer for VCOM. Josh will graduate in 2025, preparing to start a new chapter of his career. From there, the couple will relocate for a few years as Josh completes his residency.
