Douglas and Sarah first met in Sunday School at Spring Branch Community Church, which later became Bridgepoint Bible Church. Douglas says even at an early age, he had a crush on Sarah.
Douglas first asked Sarah out while they were in college. They had been serving at Bridgepoint's youth group together and Sarah lent Douglas her Plato book. After keeping the book for months, he said, "In lieu of a late fee, would you let me take you to coffee?" The went to A 2nd Cup for their first "first date." Somehow, despite his charm, after a few dates the romance fizzled out.
After Douglas was somehow invited to a Ringer family dinner (and by somehow, we mean schemed by the infamous Scott Ringer), Sarah realized she wanted to continue their conversation. The two had a second "first date" at Tenfold Coffee, where they discussed the Tao te Ching, Penny and Sparrow lyrics, and the journeys of their faith the last few years.
The pair went out on several dates, including a lovely morning at the Museum of Fine Arts where Sarah likes to say they fell in love. Then, they finally made the relationship official.
Douglas planned a special date to celebrate that Sarah graduated with her Master's Degree. He recreated their lovely day at the museum where they fell in love. After they spent a few hours in the museum, he brought her through the McGovern Centennial Gardens, where he then proposed!
