It was the fall of our freshman year in college, and life was full of new faces and experiences. Noah's roommate, Max, who happened to be friends with Sarah's roommate and childhood best friend, Maiah, wanted to go on a ghost tour of Valpo's old campus. With Covid limiting options for activities, we were eager to get out of our rooms. Little did we know, that decision would change our lives forever.
The night of the tour, we met for the first time. We instantly clicked. From the very first moment we started talking, there was this undeniable spark between us. We were in the middle of the ghost tour, but instead of focusing on the cheesy (and totally real) stories, we couldn’t help but chat about everything, our interests, our favorite shows, music, and the things we both cared about. It was like we’d known each other forever, even though we’d just met.
As the night went on, it was clear something was different. Right from the start we could not stop talking. Not just as casual acquaintances, but with an almost instant connection that felt special. It was not long before we were #1 best friends on each other's snapchats (thanks to Sarah claiming to make the first move).
In the weeks that followed, we kept in touch constantly. We even started planning group outings, making sure we’d both be there, not just for the sake of our friends, but because we just wanted to spend time together. We weren’t dating yet, but it was clear we were developing something that was so much more than just friendship.
And then, on September 11th, 2020, we both had the realization: we were more than best friends. Our connection had grown into something deeper, and that’s when we officially started dating.
From that moment on, we didn’t want to spend a single second apart. Whether it was studying, watching movies, or simply hanging out, every moment together was an adventure. Every second was filled with laughter, shared interests, and love.
Now, looking back, it feels like we were always meant to be best friends and so much more. It’s been an incredible journey, and we're beyond grateful for every moment we’ve shared, from that ghost tour to today.
