Introductions

Sean and Sarah were first introduced through Sarah's older sister (Savanna), who has been friends with Sean since their freshman year of college. It wasn’t until Sarah was a junior and Sean had just graduated that their paths truly crossed. Sarah and Sean lived in the same apartment complex, and their connection grew as they spent more time together. Sarah was drawn to Sean because of his loyalty to his loved ones and his contagious laugh. Sarah likes to joke that it was meant to be—Sean had originally planned to join the Air Force right after graduation, but an ACL injury kept him in town a little longer, giving them the chance to get to know each other better. Sean recalls falling in love with the way that Sarah cares so much for those in her life, the way she can light up a room with her jokes, her beautiful smile, and because she knows all of the words to “I’ve been everywhere” by Johnny Cash. Sarah and Sean recognized early that they shared many values and faith in god which has allowed their relationship to flourish.

Long Distance Love

In January 2023, Sean asked Sarah to be his girlfriend, and soon after, they decided to pursue a relationship despite the distance. With Sean leaving for boot camp in September, they knew they’d have to lean on their love and communication to make it work. Through countless letters and shared journal entries, they stayed connected, keeping their bond strong during the long months of training.

Although long distance has been difficult, Sean and Sarah have had their share of happy moments together. They have supported each other through thick and thin and are excited to begin this new chapter. Which will include Sarah moving to Minot, North Dakota.

The Proposal

On November 24, 2024, Sean proposed under the Arch in St. Louis, a special spot for them both. It was a place they often visited together after Sarah would pick him up from the airport, making it a symbol of their love and the memories they had shared over time.
