David and Sarah met at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati in 2016 through mutual Xavier friends. While only two years apart at XU, David and Sarah never met on campus. Now they have learned of events they were both at and found many mutual college friends.
At Oktoberfest, David and Sarah were introduced and Sarah eyed the German hat David was wearing. After talking for a little, Sarah jokingly took David's hat and returned to the friends she had come with (bridesmaid Jinnie).
David, wondering where Sarah went, asked the mutual friend where she went and they texted her to return. Sarah did, and they spent the rest of the evening enjoying German beer, brats, pretzels, chicken dances, and learning about each other.
For the first year of their relationship, David and Sarah dated long distance as David was living in his hometown of Louisville while Sarah was in her hometown of Cincinnati. David and Sarah would travel the 100 miles to visit each other frequently. Eventually, David moved to Cincinnati when they realized the 100 miles was too far away.
David and Sarah spend time walking to coffee shops, exploring
new breweries and restaurants, cooking at home, hiking different parks, and disagreeing over who is the funny one in the relationship.
David proposed to Sarah hiking Whaleback up in Leland, Michigan. At the overlook, David got on one knee, said a speech neither of them exactly remember, and asked Sarah to marry him. She of course said yes!
We look forward to celebrating with our family and friends!
