Our Story

Our Story

The debate will go on as long as time... who liked who first? Whether we ever get a real answer to that question or not, it is clear now that we both had secret crushes on each other well before either one of us ever admitted to it. A relationship that surely neither one of us ever expected when we arrived on campus at DSU. Has turned into the last 3 years of supporting, loving, and learning more about each other every day. Sarah came to college from Southern California as a highly recruited Softball player, who eventually fell in love with the Midwest lifestyle (except for the weather) and had a much better college experience than she could've imagined when she signed her letter of intent. Max came from Sioux City, Iowa where he wanted to get away from home to play baseball, but not too far because everyone knows he's a Momma's boy at heart. For the first two years of college, we knew each other through mutual friends. We would only say hi to each other if we passed by on campus or when we'd be doing laundry at the same time in the dorm halls. This was all we had at the time, little moments that we both secretly cherished and can recall to this day. It wasn't until our Junior year, that we began to talk more and try our best to convince others that we were "just friends". Max can recall one night about 2 months before our first official date when he tried to convince his best friend Jackson that "Sarah likes me dude, you see how much she talks to me, trust me." Jackson responded with "Not a chance, she's way out of your league." Turns out, Max was right all along. After a couple of months of denying what we both knew was the truth, we decided to go on a date. Which turned into two, then three, then almost three years now of watching baseball, dancing, traveling, and finding new shows to binge-watch all weekend. We are proof that "everything happens for a reason." We are so excited to get married and share our day with all of you. Thank you to everyone who has impacted our relationship in one way or another. We can't imagine our lives any differently now.
