February 11th 2022 our lives changed all because of a little old woman by the name of Joan Garrison. Joan and her grandson Bryan pulled up to Ashley Homestore Owensboro that Friday afternoon and Sarah was up in line to greet. She noticed the handsome young man wearing a black ramen noodle hoodie who appeared to her the less conventional Owensboro dress and thought maybe he’s different from the rest. She didn’t get ahead of herself but kept her cool to remain unmoved by the attractive guy who opened the door asking if we had a wheelchair to cart his grandmother around. Sarah didn’t hesitate to assist and with a smile she handed off the wheelchair and then met them both back at the door holding it open. Immediately the grandmother said, “I am looking for a red chair!” Sarah knew she didn’t have a red chair to show but inquired further after their introductions and in the short time she was around these two, the more she got tickled and amused by their sarcastic banters at one another. She saw a bond between the two that she shared with her grandmother who passed two years prior. She thought, if anything, this seemed like a smile from heaven from Jonell just letting her look into another sweet relationship between grandmother and grandchild, but maybe there was more to this intersection of paths than meets the eye…
As they circled back to the front of the store Sarah offered a bottle of water to both so to discreetly make her presence known to Bryan again. She figured if it’s meant to be, this little lady could help her out if she liked her enough. Well, she apparently did! Sarah gave her card to Bryan but not her phone number.
(Didn’t want to appear desperate)
However, later that night, in attempt to be more of a go getter, she did look him up on Facebook just to say thanks for coming in to the store and how after losing her grandmother a couple of years ago, it was heartwarming seeing how he took care of his. Bryan then quickly responded back saying it was great meeting her and that his grandmother said if he didn’t get her number she’d be disappointed in him! We laughed about this day and talked for hours each day following until our first date Valentines at Thai Food Owensboro. The rest is history!
Second to the Lord, we credit our story to the unrelenting prayers of our grandmothers; particularly Joan Bailey Garrison who passed 6 months after our initial meeting. Bryan says I was her parting gift and he is certainly mine.
