Our Story

Back in Fall on 2022, we both had started to accept being single though we tried one last idea: we tried out an online dating app, Upwards. After a couple months, Sean realized it wasn't really working so he deleted his account...or so he thought. Sarah, on the other hand, though not too wrapped up in it would check her app every once in a while and came across this attractive man on this app.

Sarah swiped and it was a match! She told herself she would wait a day or so for him to make the first move and reach out to her. Sean went about his day oblivious to this match as his account was "deleted" when all he actually had done was remove the app from his phone.

Nothing from this hot guy named Sean after a day. Sarah didn't want to give up though. He had his Instagram in his profile so she decided to make the first move and request a follow.

The next day, December 19, 2022, this Sean accepted and asked if Sarah was from Upwards. She was indeed. They started talking and realized that this might be the one.

In January 2023 they met for the first time. Their first date was a blast and they both had a great time but figured the other would dump them the following day because they thought the other was too attractive for them. That did not happen and they kept going out and enjoying time together.

On February 3, Sarah asked Sean to be her boyfriend by getting down on one knee and offering a ringpop and they started officially dating. By March they already knew it was God's plan for them to marry but Sarah wanted to get complete peace about this decision before she would let him propose.

April 19, Sean got on one knee giving Sarah a promise ring swearing under God that he would marry Sarah and love and take care of her for the rest of their lives qnd eternity to follow. Over the next several months, even though at a time long distance, they grew closer and loved each other more and more each day.

They would pray together often and Sarah would gain more peace and in August told Sean that she had full peace that this is what God was leading them to do.

As the semester progressed, Sarah started to wonder when Sean would propose. She came to spend Thanksgiving week with them and the day before (November 22) there was a suggestion to go watch the sunset at a boardwalk. Sarah agreed to come along and off they went. Sean and Sarah arrived before the rest and they walked around some as they waited for the others to get there. They saw a rosebush and he picked a flower for her. He started casually talking about how long they have been together. He had been hinting to her that he might propose in a different location so she wasn't expecting anything to happen here until he changed to a more serious tone.

She looked back to notice the others have arrived and when she looked back at Sean, he was getting on one knee and pulling out a ring box. "Sarah, we have been together for a while now and I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I love you, Sarah. Will you marry me?" Sarah stood in shock for a while not believing it was happening. "Is that a yes?" Sean asked. She nodded enthuiastically and smiled. "Take the ring, baby, there's cameras on you." She laughed and took the ring still in unbelief. "Yes!" she said. He smiled and put the ring on her finger. They were engaged! She hugged him hearing the whooping and congratulations behind her. She was engaged to marry her best friend!
